The agreement was simple, but it changed something between us the moment Aurora said yes. I saw the relief on her face, and maybe a bit of fear too. There was a quiet trust between us that settled her shoulders.

After breakfast, I asked her, “Would you like to train today?”

She looked up from her cup. “Train?”

“You said you wanted to learn, to get stronger. Let’s start with the basics.”
