Helen’s POV

The first thing I felt when I opened my eyes was pain. My ribs ached. My cheek stung. Blood had dried on my lips, metallic and bitter.

When my blurred vision cleared, I saw him, Keith. My once proud, untouchable brother, now sitting in a wheelchair. His expression was tight, his eyes dark as storm clouds.

For a moment, I didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.
