Keith stared at me like I had personally offended the moon goddess.

“You always think too badly of her,” he snapped, moving protectively in front of Helen, as if I might strike her. “Helen didn’t come here to cause trouble. She went to the Alpha King to pray for the Silvermoon Wolf Clan.”

Helen dipped her head, eyelashes fluttering, voice small and delicate.

“I only wanted to help our people… I thought if I prayed long enough, the King would take pity on us.”
