My window was facing the empty field which had nothing to offer, but its beauty and stationed archery boards and equipment.
I knew something like this would exist because Daven loves bows and arrows.
"Not yet, but from our gatherings, it seems someone's trying to break in", he responded in a low tone.
I could hear heavy breath and footsteps on the gravel ground.
I narrowed my brows, curious to know who exactly that could be.
"Did you figure out who it is?" I asked in a low whisper. My heart panics for that one person who I think it is.
Dante. What if he was the one? We came up with an agreement, and he shouldn't break that.
"Not yet ma'am, but I've tightened the security more and made no mistakes again" he concluded, and I terminated the call.
I raked my hair roughly with both my fingers, trying to ease the tension in me.
Talking to Becky would be horrible, but I needed to lighten my mood for the sake of the child in my womb.
I left my room and headed for hers. Her door was opened and I jumped inside.
However, she didn't notice as she was on a phone call, her back facing me, her voice depicting a serious pang.
"Yes, eyes on the target, she'd never know...trust me"
"If anything goes wrong, then we'd eliminate the cause, understood"
I narrowed my gaze at her, anxious, and she suddenly spun around to face me.
Her eyes widened in surprise, but it was replaced by a quick smile which made everything about her more bizarre.
I didn't even know what I was thinking, but I was getting frightened.
"Who was that? "Are you on some kind of mission?" I questioned with fear as I began to move back, swallowing hard.
Adrenaline pumps inside me, preparing me for a fight or possibly a run.
I held my heart in my mouth, while my eyes searched for hers. Her shoulders jumped into her eyes as her smile broadened the more.
"Chill girl, it's a surprise, I'm trying to couch my kid brother on how to get his crush" she moved, waving her phone at my face.
Even if I couldn't read the name on the screen, she was the last person I should doubt.
"Talk to you later" she said, wrapping up with her brother.
"You don't have a brother", I pointed out as the memory just flooded my head.
"You're not the only one who doesn't like talking about your family and, besides, you never asked me" she defended, beckoning me to close the door.
"Speaking of which, you have a hot brother who can't get off my mind," she added, falling to her bed and spreading her arms.
I said nothing and returned to close the door before sitting on a couch opposite her bed.
"Sorry to ask this, but I think you guys go way back to a sibling"
"I loathe him because he is always there, looking out for me like I was a kid and would never grow up" I lied, and I didn't mind doing that again to clear her mind off whatever negative thought was lingering in her mind.
She chuckled at me and then curved her back on the bed.
"So that means I can make him mine then?"
"I thought you had a boyfriend"
"I broke up with him at first sight of Daven in person"
My jaw dropped as she couldn't be serious, but her eyes proved she was dead serious with her words.
"Just leave me out of this, okay, can we just focus on why we are here?" I cut to the chase, relaxing my head and having no idea, while I was getting more furious, hearing that she was having a thing for daven already.
It isn't her fault, no one would be.
I just can't imagine how the rest of my life living with him would be.
It's two now and I haven't sighted daven. I know I said I wanted distance, but then I eagerly wanted to have a glimpse at his face, to know if he was fine.
However, I was forced to believe it's just business. He didn't even show up at the office on the first day. I was giving out an introductory speech to the employees.
My office was at the headquarters and his secretary put me through everything I needed to know while running the company.
Becky became my secretary, just the perfect person to keep up with my tantrums.
It's a month now, and I've heard nothing from daven. I grew curious, or possibly because it was excitement that I wouldn't be seeing him.
Here I was in the mansion, alone. Becky had gone clubbing, and I didn't want to tag along.
After a little tour around the mansion to ease some stress, which, of course, was none other than thinking, I thought returning to my room.
But first, I need to check up on Daven, or at least be a caring sister. I found myself in front of his door.
My mind had so much contemplation and I knocked but no reply. I subconsciously turned the doorknob and it was open.
I shouldn't be sneaking in on someone, but he sneaked on me last time. Slowly, I opened the door and peeped. Once I saw that it was empty, I should have just left.
No, my curiosity drove me inside and I closed the door. I was in his private world. Daven was the one who didn't let anyone in his room, not even me, and I wondered what was special about it.
It was indeed a master bedroom and I stomped my feet about like an inspector, admiring how neat the place felt.
Then my eyes met his walk-in closet. I could borrow a few things if he didn't mind.
I grinned naughtily and stridded inside the closet. I was hypnotized by the expensive accessories. I found that, for a moment, I felt everything in there was calling out to me.
I didn't even want to leave, but then I just had to. Turning around to face the door, Daven walked in.
I gasped as he was tying a towel around his waist, water trickled from his hair, his torso glistened under the florescent lights, his sturdy abs were begging for a touch.
