Camilia
I swallowed hard when I heard footsteps behind me. I couldn't breathe and there was nowhere to hide. Except...
"Yes, the package is secured" his voice echoed through the wall as I was staring at a corner which was covered with a polythene bag-like curtains, which is now the exception I have left.
Hastily, I dashed into that corner and almost screamed at what I saw but ended up closing my mouth and moving like a slug to hide.
This place wrecks of blood, more like a slaughter room. I saw a chainsaw on the table with blood stained on it and a painting hung in the corner with red pigment plastered on it.
I felt nauseated, and the footsteps kept drawing in.
"She would never know", his voice grew thicker as I heard the ruffling sound of the polythene cotton or bag.
Now, I'm staring at his legs as he is standing close to the table where I hide, just opposite me.
I heard a loud thud on the table and the bag zipped down.
"Don't worry, revenge will be ours soon...and every one of his descendants will go down" he declared, and I shook where I was. I don't want to die again, not now that I have the chance to gain my revenge.
Accidentally, my leg kicked a bucket that I just figured out was beside me and the liquid inside slashed on the floor.
I shuddered, widening my eyes as the bucket made a loud rattling sound. There was nowhere to run or hide, and I wasn't willing to accept death.
Courageously, I intended to rise up. I could run away and turn to Lucy's father, who is a Mafia officer. Immediately I rose up, I realized he was backing me. He ran his fingers through his hair and then sighed.
"I'm running late, I'd keep you updated" he pressed on, then began to pace away without looking back. I waited for some minutes before running out. As soon as I came out, I saw him waiting for me at the foot of the basement with the phone still in his ear.
His soft gaze had turned cold, and I guess his gentleman's facade had faded. It only meant he knew I was there but only pretended and waited for me to come out.
My fingers had turned cold, I squirmed inside, just staring at him with a racing heart.
"What part of don't go to the east wing do you not understand?" He muttered, and I swallowed hard, rubbing my throat and keeping a straight face at him.
He must have warned Lucy about this, but I'm not here. He terminated the call and placed the phone in his back pocket while I awaited my fate.
"Are you going to kill me?" I asked nonchalantly, fluttering my eyes at him. My breath came in short, and he began to walk closer to me. He looked scorching hot and made me lose my breath.
I moved back slowly, frightened as hell and I almost fell as if he hadn't grabbed my collar quickly.
His eyes were heavy on me as he pulled me closer to himself. It was only an inche that separated us, and I was staring into those eyes.
"I will if you go on spilling what you saw there" he whispered, and my eyes brightened. A thought just came into mine, and I was done being scared because of merlo.
Tex is the perfect find. Even though Lucy will soon be on the death list again, he knows I know. This is fucked up, but I mustn't screw it up. I can keep him on my side even though it sounds ridiculous.
"So you're some kind of killer, right?" I asked with probing eyes at him, and he let go of my shirt. He shifted his gaze from me and then exhaled deeply.
"Go to your room" he ordered in a cruel tone that caused goosebumps in me and I rubbed my sweaty palms on my thighs.
I almost moved away but then stopped while clearing my throat. I know how this works. Don't show them you're scared, but refute their words. A lot of books have helped me.
Maybe he is a hard man with a secretly soft heart because he treated me nicely.
I walked backward to face him.
"Kill someone for me. That's the whole concept of this. "I don't know what you have with Lucy, but I can offer you what she can't."
He narrowed his gaze at me but then i raised my shoulders high and then licked my lips.
"I don't do that anymore..."
"He is my ex, I want to get back at him" I confessed, closing my eyes and anticipating a reply. Sweat had a bead on my forehead, but I was willing to achieve my aim with him.
However, I felt my body being lifted from the ground and when I opened those eyes I was upside down. He had carried me over his shoulder, storming towards the direction of my room.
I stayed still because kicking or breaking out of his grip might be impossible. He dropped me down and was about to move out when I said:
"I have everything recorded, and currently it's in the hold of my secretary. "I told her if she doesn't hear from me in the next one hour, she should post it to the media...
He widened his eyes in circles as I catwalked closer to him while looking down on him like a peasant.
"And you know my father won't let it slide, you and your descendants, generations probably and your current family will be wiped out", I poured out, glaring at him.
He was taken back as though he was glued to a spot and then he scoffed.
"Really Lucy, your phone is over here" he muttered, pointing at my phone on the bed. I fluttered my eyes but still looked confident.
"I know, there's a chip on this button which is live recording everything we are saying to her and, currently, she's at the precinct. Once it's an hour, she's filing a report."
Please believe it. I didn't even know I could construct a lie and, fortunately, the shirt on me had buttons that seemed as though a chip was attached to them. If only he knew I was melting in that position.
He swallowed hard and stormed towards me with rage in his eyes. I was almost blown apart due to the manner of approach, but I maintained my balance.
His eyes dragged me from head to toe as he gnashed his teeth at me.
"What do you want?"
