The bottom line of what he had said was that even the doctors didn't have hope. 

I did though and that's why I got on my knees and prayed. 

I prayed for him to survive the surgery so I could properly thank him for everything that he had done for me so far, however it seemed even my prayer points were a more cruel fate than him going now.
