"Sell it anytime you're free," Chi Qian instructed, the earlier hesitation deflating. She tossed the watch towards Mei Li. "And now that you're back, help look into Kim Jin's background. Remember, that's top priority right now."
Chi Qian exited the room, letting out a sigh of relief. A sword always seemed to hang over her head these days, especially with Kim Jin. It would be a disaster if Madam Xin found out.
Elsewhere in the Swiss Alps,
What looked like a serene scene of a group of people skiing in tailored suits was abruptly cut short by the arrival of another. If Kim Jin were here now, he would have recognized the man at the center of this gathering: his cousin, Kim Ging.
"You still failed to finish my cousin despite years of planning for this moment!" Kim Ging's voice sliced through the crisp mountain air.
Almost immediately, all of the newcomers dropped to their knees, their leader speaking, his voice laced with fear. "Forgive us, Master Kim. He was saved by someone else, and by the time we reached the hospital, your cousin's sister's men had already secured him. We couldn't do anything. But we learned he has complete memory loss."
Despite his seething anger, Kim Ging spoke softly, almost chillingly. He collected a file, examining it thoroughly before tossing it aside. "This is the hospital record. Although the poison didn't kill him, it was enough to wipe his memory out."
"Zong, prepare the jet. looks like I'm going to pay my cousin's sister a visit. Kim Jin would never have imagined that everything he worked hard for would finally fall into my hands."
Zong, the bulky man beside him also serving as his personal bodyguard, spoke. "Young Master, what should we do with them?"
Kim Ging paused, taking a cold glance at the kneeling figures before him. Then, he spoke, his voice devoid of mercy. "Eliminate them. No one fails this Young Master."

Back in Beijing,
Chi Qian made an extra effort to wake before sunrise, but someone was already up, as always. Wiping away her sleepy face, Chi Qian spoke, "Kim Jin, why are you up early? The doctor said you need a lot of rest."
"I just saw you were tired last night and decided to make breakfast early. Do you want omelets with oats, or the usual sandwiches?" Although Chi Qian and Kim Jin had only lived together for a couple of days, she felt she could see through him at a glance and naturally sensed something was wrong. Walking closer to him at the counter table, she spoke, "Tell me what's wrong. I can tell you're holding something in."
It was only after a few minutes of intense stare- down competition between them that Kim Jin finally speak. "I'm tired of staying at home. Why can't I join you for work, just for today? I heard when you were talking to Mei Li, you said you needed a hand."
Chi Qian wasn't exactly sure when she and Mei Li had that conversation, but she stood on her tiptoes, trying to ruffle his hair a bit before speaking, "Just be a good boy. Your wife is an actress; I can make a fortune in an instant."
"Cough... cough... get a room if you guys can't hold it in! I don't want to be eating dog food!" Chi Qian quickly pulled away from Kim Jin, knowing Mei Li all too well, but also cursing internally: When did everyone start waking up at five in the morning?
Mei Li ignored the expression Chi Qian had on, walking over to the kitchen table and taking a plate of oats before speaking, "Kim Jin is right; we need all the help we can at the moment. Plus, he's good with numbers; maybe he can help make our numbers look sexy since it's a mess." Mei Li's words gave Chi Qian no space to decline.
"Okay, we can head to the office together, but only after we are done with the hospital." With that cleared out of the way, they proceeded with a lengthy discussion about plans for the dinner party scheduled to happen. If her adoptive mother Madam Xin and her sister Rui Xin were going to be present, Chi Qian was sure it wasn't going to be a peaceful family reunion.
But just to be on the safe side Mei Li and Chi Qian would be attending the event separately, which meant Mei Li could woo investors from her side without any sudden surprises. It was already sunrise by the time they were done so Mei Li headed out first since they were scheduled to meet later in the afternoon. Chi Qian and Kim Jin were already dressed for the occasion in classic blue suits before leaving.
The journey to the hospital from their home was an hour long, so Chi Qian played some music in the background for a while before speaking. "Don't worry, I know the director of the hospital from childhood, and he always puts me back in shape. How's the headache?"
"Still coping with the help of the painkiller."
Although Chi Qian didn't mention it in their conversation, the only reason she knew the director of the hospital was because, back then in middle school, he was the school nurse. And although she and Rui Xin didn't go to the same school back then, Rui Xin and her friends always made the journey despite the distance to bully Chi Qian, which always ended up in a visit to the school clinic. By a stroke of luck, the nurse had left the school and joined one of his close friends at the hospital.
The car finally came to a stop in front of a huge building with a signboard that read 'Green Olive'. Knowing they were in a time crunch to return to the office as soon as possible, Chi Qian walked straight into the building toward the reception.
"Good morning, I have an appointment with Director Song. He said he would be available today!"
"Okay, can I get your names?"
"Yeah, Chi Qian, and this is my husband." Thankfully, they were early enough that it didn't take long for the receptionist to take down their names and get a reply.
"Miss Chi Qian, the Director is expecting you in his office. Please follow me." Although Chi Qian knew the direction of the office herself, she followed along with Kim Jin behind, and within a couple of minutes, they found themselves in front of an old man well past his prime.
"Chi Qian, I always thought that I would never retire, but seeing you bring a husband, I think I might be considering it! Aren't you going to introduce this old man to your husband?"
"Kim Jin, Director Song... Director Song, Kim Jin." After quick pleasantries, they sat, with Director Song taking the lead. "So, this is the young man who wants a brain scan. The doctor who will take you in will be here in a moment, but let me have a look at the file." Chi Qian handed over Kim Jin's file very quickly, and it wasn't long before Director Song began sending discreet looks over to Chi Qian, speaking.
"What did you say is the cause of his temporary memory loss again?"
"Food poisoning by anti-neuron bacteria." A knock on the door quickly brought their conversation to a halt as a doctor walked in.
"Okay, he's here. Kim Jin can leave with him while I and Chi Qian catch up on old times." Chi Qian gave an approving look to Kim Jin before he left. Once Director Song was sure they had put some distance between them, he quickly changed his demeanor, speaking, "Little rascal, what mess have you gotten yourself into? You better start speaking the truth if you don't want your husband to die..."
