Chapter 5-My Daughter, Do Not Suffer Injustice

"Alright, it's getting late, sweetheart. Mommy will take you to see your room." Megan wore a gentle smile on her face as she softly took Bailey's hand. The warmth in her palm conveyed deep motherly love as she slowly led her upstairs.

Arriving at the door, Megan gently opened it, her eyes shining with anticipation, her voice filled with joy: "Come take a look, do you like this room?"

Inside the room, bright light poured unreservedly through the floor-to-ceiling windows, freely spilling into every corner. The European-style decor was exquisite and elegant, exuding a grand and dignified atmosphere.

At the foot of the bed, there was a carpet where various adorable stuffed dolls were neatly arranged; the soft canopy hanging above the bed gently fluttered with the breeze.

Bailey immediately saw that her parents had put a great deal of thought into preparing this room. Although she had never been particularly fond of overly girly decorations, their heartfelt gesture, as expected, deeply moved her.

"I really like it, Mom." She smiled sweetly, the corners of her mouth lifting gently.

"If you don't like it, don't force yourself. Your dad and I can prepare a room in a different style for you." Megan raised her hand and gently stroked Bailey's head, her gesture affectionate and tender.

"Sweetheart, even if it were to be castles you liked, Mom and Dad will just give you one!" Megan exclaimed.

Bailey hurriedly shook her head, her tone sincere, "No need, Mom, this room is just fine. I'm really very okay ."

Megan nodded slightly.

In her heart, she had a thousand words she wanted to share with her daughter while she had been separated from for too long. But Bailey's slightly tired face, filled her with tenderness.

She gently urged her to get some rest then quietly went downstairs.

After she’d washed up, Bailey was about to go into the room to sleep when the sound of an opening door and chaotic footsteps came from downstairs.

She listened carefully and heard her parents announcing that her 19-year-old sister, Ruby had returned.

"Are you Bailey?" Ruby had just come upstairs and immediately spotted Bailey. Her steps suddenly halted, and her eyes instantly filled with scrutiny.

She studied Bailey, her eyes full of disdain, and said sharply, "Your hairstyle is really ridiculous. Who still wears such an old-fashioned style these days?”

Ruby had heard from the housekeeper that as soon as Bailey returned, her father had given her a diamond ring worth eighty million, along with all of the best things in the house to her, and it made her feel very jealous.

Bailey's mind was as clear as a mirror, fully aware of what Ruby was thinking, yet she simply watched her quietly, saying nothing.

At that moment, the housekeeper, Miss Georgia, hurried over , her expression nervous, "Miss Ruby, there's something I need to tell you."

Ruby impatiently glared at the housekeeper and snapped irritably, "What is it? Why the rush? Can't you see I'm busy?"

The housekeeper swallowed and spoke in a voice barely above a whisper,

"Your room... has been turned into a dressing room for Miss Bailey. The Alpha King and Megan thought that since Miss Bailey just returned home, she needed a spacious dressing room, so..."

"What?!" Ruby's eyes widened. "How can they do this? That’s my room! Why would they just give it to her!"

The housekeeper hurried forward, offering an apologetic smile,

"Miss, please calm down first. Megan said she will definitely find you another room exactly the same size. You’ll just need to be a little patient with us.”

Ruby refused to listen at all, she turned to glare at Bailey. "You bitch, you popped out of nowhere, and barged into my house and snatched all my things—I’ll teach you a lesson today!" she snarled, baring her teeth and claws as she lunged forward to attack.

The housekeeper hurriedly stretched out her hands to stop her, pleading bitterly, "You can't, Miss Ruby!

You absolutely must not act impulsively.

Miss Bailey is the treasure of the whole family right now.

If you lay a hand on her, and The Alpha King finds out, he most definitely won't go easy on you!

Calm down and quickly apologize to Miss Bailey, or if this escalates, it won't be good for anyone."

Ruby shook her hand forcefully and suddenly let go of the housekeeper's hand. "Apologize? What kind of sister does she think she is to me! She's just a stranger who just came to the house, so why would I bow to her?!”

Bailey suddenly heard coughing, but wasn’t aware of who it was. Then the hall suddenly fell silent, and the atmosphere turned cold.

The Alpha King stood expressionless at the end of the hall.

After a long moment, he his gaze fell on Ruby and he calmly said, "Bailey is my daughter. Isn't my daughter worthy of being your sister?"

Ruby went from being spoiled and willful, to being visibly frightened, her face drained of color, and her voice trembling slightly:

"Father, I—I didn't mean that..."

Ethan, who had arrived shortly after, smiled warmly

"Ruby, do you feel wronged living in our house?"

Ruby’s face turned pale as she hurriedly denied"No, you misunderstood me."

"Since you don’t feel wronged, then don't say things in the future that could cause misunderstandings." Ethan's voice was gentle and refined, yet it carried an authoritative air that put Ruby in her place.

Ruby opened her mouth, then lowered her head for a long moment, not daring to say more. But even as she bowed her head, she still harbored some stubbornness.

The housekeeper, Georgia spoke up to try to smooth things over, a sheepish smile on her face:

"Sorry, Alpha, it was my fault for not arranging the rooms properly."

"Your arrangement is indeed somewhat inappropriate," Ethan said to Georgia. "Bailey is my sister, and it's absolutely outrageous that you assigned her to stay in the storage room."

As he spoke, he suddenly threw an arm around Bailey's shoulders, his gesture natural yet filled with a strong sense of protectiveness. "My sister is coming home, and does need to be put through such an ordeal.”

Bailey stiffened at his touch. She was not sure if it was because Ethan's gesture was too intimate or because his words were too heartfelt.

Compared to the hardships and cold stares Bailey faced at the Harland home , Ruby’s behaviour was nothing significant.

But this was the first time someone cared so much about whether she was being wronged.

Warmth filled her heart, as if for the first time, she truly felt and understood what family really meant. The sense of being protected and cared for, made Bailey's eyes slightly moist.

Georgia’s face grew awkward as she instinctively glanced at the Alpha King beside her, only to see that he remained silent. She could only suppress the frustration in her heart and try to maintain an air of elegance. "What Ethan said is true, I was not thorough enough in my considerations. I will have someone rearrange things."

Ethan immediately smiled and nodded at her, his tone polite yet firm: "Then I’ll leave it to you to handle it as soon as possible."

Saying this, he turned back to the group, his face once again softening into a gentle smile: "I'll take Bailey for a walk in the garden first."

Having said that, he took Bailey and headed straight to the garden, without a second thought about the opinions of those present in the hall

After they both left, the atmosphere in the hall grew heavy. Ruby felt extremely wronged and was about to explain, but the Alpha King had already returned to the study.

After a while, the Alpha King heard a knock on the door.

A male soldier came in and respectfully said to the Alpha King, "King, the guard received a call from someone claiming to be a family member of Harland, Ms. Victoria, who has come to visit."

Harland's family? Didn't Bailey just come from Harland's house? Were they looking for her now?

"They are here to find Bailey, right? It seems they really can't bear to part with this child," Megan said with a smile, also easing the atmosphere.

She had only just noticed that Bailey came in without any luggage.

Although she didn’t know the reason, she felt that Harland must have come specifically to deliver the luggage.

After all, knowing that Bailey was the daughter of the Alpha King, Harland's family wouldn't be foolish enough to do something as stupid as not even giving her luggage.

The butler seemed to hesitate for a moment and finally said, "Ms. Victoria said she came to visit the Queen."

Megan's smile froze, a strange and bewildered expression appearing on her face, and she couldn't help but murmur, "Looking for me?"

But…It Harland's Luna, Victoria, wasn’t here to find Bailey, then why was she looking for her?
