Loosened Grip

Kai sat in silence, arms folded, eyes trained on the porcelain teacup in front of him like it personally insulted him. The breakfast table was long, glossy, absurdly excessive, like something out of a royal palace, and he hated every inch of it. Gold utensils. Imported fruit. Croissants that looked like they cost more than his motorcycle.

He hadn’t touched a thing.

Across the table, Loac sat in his tailored silk robe, legs crossed, casually sipping from a steaming cup of black coffee like he wasn’t the villain who’d just abducted someone.

Kai’s stomach churned. Not from hunger, but fury.

“You’re really enjoying this, aren’t you?” Kai finally said, voice low, laced with venom.

Loac didn’t bother looking up from his cup.

“You always this mouthy in the morning?”

Kai growled, slow and dangerous. “Only when I wake up in a psychopath’s mansion.”

Loac chuckled, finally glancing at him with that unreadable calm.

“I’d prefer Intelligent strategist, if we’re labeling things.”

“Right. And this contract bullshit?” Kai pushed the untouched copy of the document across the table like it was filth. “You think you can just forge my name, drug me, and dress it up as a business deal?”

Loac leaned forward, interlacing his fingers. “You signed it.”

“I was threatened.”

“You weren’t forced.”

Kai stood so fast the chair scraped loudly against the marble floor. The guards in the corner of the room tensed—but Loac lazily lifted a finger and they froze like statues.

“Tell your attack dogs to back the fuck off,” Kai snapped.

“They’re not here for your safety,” Loac replied. “They’re here for your temper.”

Kai shoved the chair aside and leaned across the table, daring to meet Loac eye to eye. “You want a worker? Fine. You want a dog? Try someone else. You’re not the first bastard I’ve had to chew through.”

Loac’s lips curved, amused. “That mouth of yours… it’s going to be the death of you.”

“Maybe. But I’ll enjoy making you bleed before I go.”

There was silence. Thick, heated.

Then Loac stood.

No rage. No warning.

Just cold grace as he walked slowly around the table, shoes clicking against the floor. Kai didn’t move, jaw tight as Loac stopped beside him, the tension palpable.

Loac leaned in, whispering against Kai’s ear.

“I’m giving you a choice, Kai. Be useful… or be broken.”

Kai didn’t flinch.

He turned his head slightly, his voice like a knife wrapped in velvet. “touch me, and you’ll regret not killing me instead.”

Loac smiled against his cheek.

“Cute,” he said, before grabbing Kai’s wrist in a bruising grip and yanking him forward with brutal efficiency.

Kai gasped as his back slammed against the nearest wall, Loac’s body pinning him there in one smooth motion. His breath hitched as Loac’s fingers trailed up the side of his neck, calculated and slow.

“You don’t get it yet,” Loac murmured. “You’re not here to fight me.”

His lips brushed Kai’s ear.

“You’re here to entertain me.”, "you should thank me for letting you work kai"

Kai’s pulse thundered—but not from fear.

From the rage.

From the heat.

From the wild, inexplicable rush that came with being dragged into hell and daring to flirt with the flames.

“You think I’ll obey you?” Kai hissed. “Think again, asshole.”

Loac’s hand dropped to his waist.

“yes i do, i could as well lock you up here, till you learn to behave..”

He stepped back just as suddenly, adjusting his collar like nothing happened. Kai stood there, breath ragged, chest rising and falling in sharp bursts. Loac poured himself another cup of coffee.

“Be ready by noon,” he said. “You’ll be meeting someone.”

Kai scowled. “You’re not even gonna tell me what the job is?”

Loac didn’t even glance back.

“I want to see how well you improvise.”With that, he walked out.

Kai clenched his fists.

Because whatever game Loac was playing—he’d just stepped onto the board.

And he’d be damned if he didn’t figure out how to flip it.

Kai hunched over the open engine of the custom-built motorcycle, sweat dripping from his brow. The scent of grease and gasoline clung to his clothes, but beneath the usual mechanical chaos, something darker hid inside the metal casing, a hollow compartment filled with neatly wrapped packets of a white powdery substance. Loacs men had escorted him to his workshop, they at least had the decency to give him some privacy to by not coming in with him, but he knows they're outside watching his every move.

He quickly briefs his apprentice about his situation.

"You sure about this?" Toga, a young looking man, his apprentice asked as he lit a cigarette in the corner.

Kai didn’t even glance at him. "Not like I got a choice."

He tightened a screw, sealing the compartment. His eyes were hard, calculated, the cocky edge in his tone replaced with bitterness.

"This ain’t just moving spare parts anymore, Kai. It’s drugs. You could get locked up for life."

"I'd rather prison than that man breathing down my neck," Kai muttered.

"Loac? The guy that owns half the damn city?" Toga scoffed. "You seriously pissed off the wrong people.", "why'd you have to go sniffing around, boss".

Kai smirked, wiping his hands with a rag. "No shit."

He dropped the rag, picked up his leather jacket, and zipped it without another word. once the job was done. Time to move. But not back to Loac. Not yet. He needed time to think, to breathe.

He wasn't expecting to be the one to deliver the drugs to the client. A man named Peter Ross, tall and huge, with white hair and beards, menacing looking, he was ordered to park the motorcycle at his front door, walk up to him, offer a hand shake, then leave.

A car was prepared to take him back to loac, but he never got in, he went round the mans house, jumped his backyard fence and bolted.

That night, Kai crashed at Toga’s cramped apartment. He tossed and turned on the squeaky couch, a knife under his pillow. His dreams were restless, Loac’s chilling voice echoed in his head:

"You belong to me now."

Morning light broke through the cracked blinds, and Kai had barely sat up when his phone buzzed.

Unknown Number

He answered groggily. "Yeah?"

"Is this Mr. Kai Tenzen?"

His muscles stiffened. "Who wants to know?"

"This is the reception at Saint Elora Hospital. Your sister, Mitsuri Tenzen received an early morning visitor. We just wanted to inform you."

Kai shot to his feet. "Who visited her?!"

"A man. Tall. Dark hair. Well-dressed. Said he was family."

"Keep him there. I’m on my way."

He didn’t wait to hear more. He was already grabbing his boots and storming out.

Kai burst into Room 408, panting, eyes darting wildly and froze.

Loac sat calmly by Mitsuri's bed, her tiny fingers wrapped around his much larger hand. She was smiling. Laughing. she spotted him.

"Kai! Look, he brought me this teddy bear! Isn’t it cute?"

Loac turned slowly, that devil-may-care smirk playing on his lips.

"She likes rabbits. Not bears," Kai said coldly, walking to the bed.

"She changed her mind," Loac said. "Kids are fickle like that."

Kai stepped in front of his sister, shielding her. "Get the hell out."

"That’s not how you greet your boss. Especially one who brought toys."

"You think this is funny? Using her?"

Loac stood, smooth and graceful like a damn predator. He leaned in, whispering just enough for Kai to hear.

"You remember that line you yelled at me? What was it again? Something about having people who cared about you... and would come looking?"

Kai didn’t respond. His fists clenched.

Loac tilted his head. "Well, I found them. Cute little sister. She has your eyes."

"Don’t fucking touch her."

"Then don’t run again."

Mitsuri tugged Kai’s sleeve. "Big brother? Are you okay? You look mad."

Kai forced a smile. "I’m fine, princess. Just grown-up talk is all."

Loac ruffled her hair. "I’ll see you again soon, Mitsuri. Your brother and I have some work to finish."

As they walked out into the hall, Kai grabbed Loac by the collar. "If you lay a finger on her—"

Loac shoved him against the wall, his voice low and calm. "You think I’m the villain? I’m the only reason she’s getting the meds she needs. You disappear again, I pull the plug on everything."

Kai blinked. "You’re paying for her treatments?" ignoring his threath of killing his sister if he tries to escape again.

" I own your debts. Medical, legal, personal. You live because I allow it."

Kai stared at him, breathing hard. "You bastard."

Loac smirked. " can't have people suspecting something's up, the bank and the hospital , anywhere and anyone else you owe would be a problem to me if i don't keep the bills in check, so consider it payment and be grateful" he says, stepping back, "Breakfast? Or are we skipping straight to your next delivery job?"

Kai looked back at the hospital room, where his sister played with the teddy bear.

He sighed. "Let’s go."

"Atta boy."
