Chapter 4

THE HUGE BOX

Olivia’s POV

This wasn't supposed to happen. He wasn't supposed to announce my name like that in front of everyone.

I forced a smile on my face and walked up the stairs to meet my father, who was looking at me with a smile on his face, but only I could see how cold his smile was. To others, he was just a loving single father to his daughter.

“She has achieved so much that I never thought she could on her own, and I see her achieving so much more., he said, and smiles and cheers filled the room.

I stood uncomfortably beside him as he went on and on about the struggles of raising me without my mother and how my mother would be so proud of me and who I have become.

My eyes scanned the room, looking for Alex, and when I found him, he was already staring at me. I smiled at him but he didn't smile back.

Did I do anything wrong? Or didn't he like the kiss?

He turned away from me and raised his glass to his lips, taking a sip without acknowledging me and I don't know why that hurt my heart so much.

“Thank you all for coming and supporting the Harmony initiative group. Madam Sasha must really appreciate it. Have a nice night.” My father finished and the crowd cheered for him, clapping as he walked down the podium.

Once we got backstage, he pulled me to him with a death grip.

“you should smile more,” he said through gritted teeth, released me, and then walked away.

I raised my hand to massage the sore part and wince when Rita rushed up to me.

“What was that?” she squealed, and with the smile on her face, I knew what she was talking about.

“It's nothing,” I replied and tried to walk by her, but she was fast, and she wasn't having any of it.

“With the way, the both of you were all over each other, that wasn't nothing. He had his tongue shoved down your throat. Come on, give a girl some tea.” she begged, following me out of the backroom.

I kept turning her down till I got to the main hall and flocked with many people who, if they didn't know who I fully was, now knew and wanted to be affiliated with me in one way or the other to get favours from my father.

I put on my usual smile and spoke to them till the whole event was over. My eyes scanned the room for Alexander, but he was nowhere in sight, and it made my heart hurt for some reason.

I guess that's just a one-night thing. I told myself as I walked over to the doors to leave.

I was almost out when someone pulled me back into the building and dragged me up a row of stairs till we were locked in a room. It all happened so fast that I didn't have the time to react properly or anything.

“HELP! HELP ME, SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP—”

A hand was placed over my mouth, shushing me, and the person flicked the light in the room. He slowly removed his hand from my mouth and stepped back with an expressionless face.

“Alex? What the hell was that? You can't just drag someone off and you could have just said you wanted to speak to me in private.”

I yelled at him, my heart still racing from fear.

“You’re a Westwood. Why didn't you tell me?” he asked with a blank face.

Not this again. “Are you trying to get in my pants because I find you attractive to gain favours from my father? Trust me, it wouldn't work.” I told him but he didn't say anything.

He walked closer to me and dipped his head to my neck, inhaling my scent and making a shiver run down my spine.

He raised his hand, grabbed one of my breasts, and squeezed hard, making me moan so loudly that I had to raise my hand to cover my mouth.

He began to slowly massage it and then began to suck on my neck, and in seconds, I was a moaning mess after he found my sweet spot.

“Alex”, I moaned, and then he stepped away from me abruptly, leaving me breathless and staring up at him with hooded eyes.

He ran his hand through his hair slightly, pushed me from the door, and walked out, slamming behind him.

What the hell was that?

“I'm glad that last night's gala was a success; thanks to everyone who put in their best, especially my dream team, Rita and Olivia.

Rita and I smiled in each other's direction and then faced Madam Sasha again as she went on to list our work for the day.

“So you're really not going to tell me what happened last night?” Rita asked, gushing and fluttering her lashes at me.

Since we clocked in earlier, she hadn't let me hear the end of it.

“I'll tell you later, not just now please.”

“Come on,” she whined, but I just ignored her, typing away on my laptop, when a knock sounded on my door.

“Come in,” I called out and a delivery man walked in with a huge box in his hands.

“Delivery for Miss Westwood?” he said, looking between us and I nodded.

“Yeah, that's me.”

He walked over and placed the huge box on my table that almost took up all the space I had.

“Who is it from?” Rita asked, staring at it curiously but I just shrugged, having no idea.

The delivery man left, and Rita and I were left with the huge box.

I got up from my seat and walked towards it, opening the lid and just as I did, confetti flew out from it, decorating the floors of my office.

We looked inside to see lots of goodies and boxes of jewellery so expensive and probably a hundred times my salary of three months combined.

“what the–” Rita exclaimed and I felt the same way because who would do this?

“There's a letter in there,” Rita muttered, pointing at the pink parchment paper. I pulled it out and flipped it open as I read it aloud.

“Just as green as your eyes, I got you these. I'm not so good with words or poems, but I'm better at other things, and one of them is knowing what I want, and that is you…” I paused and stared at Rita as she urged me to go on.

“So Olivia Jane Westwood, Marry me.” I read and before I could even process what I had read, Rita squealed.

What the hell?
