“Our new model will be wearing the”Blair Wang” ruffle dress. She'd take on a minor role in our new series, to serve as an eye candy.” Rebecca, the glam team leader informed Kyle who was going through a jagged line chart on his tab. “Perfect.”
“Our ratings for “Cheer up” soared by three more percent. They say it inspired more young girls to pick up cheerleading. . We can make another blockbuster like cheer up, with carefully selected actors. Our marketing strategy is to include ten top actors the people love on their screens in our new movie.”
Relieved, Kyle smiled. He was enjoying the pitch, and he felt blessed to have Rebecca. Her brain works around the clock, brainstorming on ideas that'd make their ratings soar. Running Blue Rail entertainment had been his father's lifelong dream, he was happy it was working. Rebecca strolled to the limited edition dress on the hanger and ran her fingers on the ruffles on the flairs of the dress.
“Where is Miss Ariel? He asked his secretary, Joyce. “She's on her way sir.”
Rebecca punched some figures on her tab and walked off to check the props for the movie. She was proud of herself, she had worked so hard to get that dress for Ariel. Athena's team had reached out for the dress, but she had placed a higher bid and acquired it for their new model instead. Ariel was worth it, having her on their screen would keep the viewers hooked.
Kyle could not wait, he was going to take Ariel to dinner after the shoot. He had to make his intentions known to her. He had been mesmerized, right from the very day he set his eyes on her, but he thought being too forward would scare her away.
Ariel walked in just then, she had been a ball of nerves since she woke up. It was her first day at her new job. She straightened when a lady with a sleek ponytail, fastened with a claw clip, walked up to her. “Hi Miss Celine, I'm Rebecca, head of the fashion team, welcome to “Blue Rail.” She extends her right hand to Ariel who takes it politely with a nervous smile. Kyle walked up to her, barely able to contain his excitement.
“Welcome, I'm glad you decided to work with us, and we are so pleased to have you.”
“Thank you.” She smiled softly in response as she followed Rebecca to the dressing room. Vivian and Anna's eyes followed the breathtaking newbie as she walked to the dressing room. They had all been craning their necks to see who they had gone to extreme lengths to acquire a limited edition dress for. “Exactly who does she think she is?.” Vivian who had been watching sneered in jealousy once they were out of earshot. Ariel was a newbie, she had no business wearing a limited edition dress. Vivian was a top actress, and felt she was more deserving of the dress. “Looks like she whored her way in.” Anna Chimed. Vivian snickered in jealousy, hearing Anna talk down on the newbie had relieved her troubled mind a bit. The presence of the new girl intimidated her.
“Blue Rail does not deserve my talent, this is not how to treat a top actress. I've been in the game for years, I deserve that dress.”
“Even though she bodies it more, you're right. I still think the dress should be yours. I mean, you're Vivian, the almighty screen queen.”
“You're right, I'll show that wench what I'm capable of. She's a bit too proud.” Vivian vowed. Anna smiled in agreement, a newbie getting preferential treatment was not going to happen on their watch. They could humble her a little, Anna believed pretty girls thought too highly of themselves.
A smartly dressed young man in a crisp white shirt and designer sneakers walks to the middle of the set and demands everyone's attention. They all turn to him as he explains the scene. The main characters had their eyes buried in their scripts.
“Alright, this scene involves Vivian coming to see her husband at an official party. “She'd demand to see him, but his secretary would try to stop her. Are we clear?.” They all respond in acknowledgement. The shutters click as Ariel strides to assume her position on set. She waits in anticipation, taking rehearsed breaths to calm her nerves. “Camera, lights and action!!!.”
The scene begins, Vivian cat walks to the entrance of the party set and tries to walk in. As instructed, Ariel stands in her way and stops her from crossing. Everyone watched her stunning performance in awe, she was a natural actress. Nothing about her role felt like acting.
Vivian’s voice rose several decibels higher. “I demand to see my husband!!.” She says.
“I'm sorry ma'am, but this is an official dinner, partners are not allowed. It'd look like my boss does not adhere to instructions.”
“And who are you to care about that?.” She asked in a menacingly low voice.
Kyle was pleased, both actresses were perfect. Bringing Ariel on board was a good move, he was glad he did. But he spoke too soon, the next scene shook him.
“Move aside you bitch!!!.” Vivian yelled and slapped Ariel hard on the face, completely going off script. Shocked gasps erupted from the actors. Ariel held her stinging cheek in pain. “I'm so sorry, I mixed up the scenes from a similar movie I starred in.” Vivian lied, rendering a fake apology. Ariel caught a glimpse of Anna snickering in the crowd. She watched Vivian smile when no one was watching.
Rebecca swooped in and led Ariel out of the set, apologizing as they went. Kyle followed them closely behind with some water and a towel. He felt bad, no apology could convey how bad he felt to Ariel
“Let's take a break, we'll be back in twenty.” The director announced and dismissed everyone. Once they all dispersed to practice their scripts, Vivian and Anna discussed their mischief in hushed voices and excited whispers when Ariel caught a glimpse of them.
Bianca was pacing in her studio when her manager walked in. She looked frightened, all her attempts to get Bianca's dream dress had failed.
“Alice, what's going on?.” The impatient Bianca demanded coldly. Alice fumbled for the right words to say that could soothe Bianca. It was love at first sight when Bianca set her eyes on the short purple Blair Wang dress. Her management had reached out to Blair Wang and requested that she models the dress. She had the fan base and the platform. But Blair Wang had sold the dress to the highest bidder instead. Kyle wanted to see the dress on his new crush.
“Ma'am, Blue Rail bought the dress twice the price. They also made the wearer their brand model.” Alice finally spilled the sour milk. Bianca's hands balled into fists, she was hysterical. She had pictured herself in that dress, and could not wait to show off with it.
“Who is wearing the dress?.” She demanded coldly. Alice trembled, her eyes never left the floor. “Blue Rail’s newest model, Celine Bryce.”
