I called Marcus to come and pick us up from the diner. I didn’t want to risk more paparazzi hanging around the building. Amelie had never been exposed to them, and I didn’t want to scare her away before I had a chance with her.

Marcus drove us up to Fifth Avenue to shop for Amelie. We stopped in front of one of the boutiques and hopped out.
