Detective Volkov showed up, his officers had checked out the box, and then his officers opened it. This time it wasn’t something grisly; in fact, this time it was a diamond ring. Then I realized it was my mother’s diamond ring, the one we thought was lost at the hospital. What the hell? How did someone get it? The note inside the box was more threatening.
