We arrived in Nice, France, and took a luxury private helicopter to Monte Carlo, Monaco. The flight along the coastline was spectacular. I was buzzing with excitement. I had literally never travelled anywhere. My mom and dad were lower-middle-class. My brother and I never wanted for anything, but we never had brand-name clothing, fancy vacations, or the latest technology. In fact, I got my first phone a month before I moved to New York.
