Chapter 5

"Clarke's taking so long. Check your phone. Maybe he called you and you didn't notice. Hurry." Jax told Lance, who immediately obeyed and checked his phone.

"I didn't receive any calls from him. Check yours too, maybe he called you." Lance said.

"Nope, nothing." He said, putting his phone back in his pocket.

"Maybe what Don Roman and Clarke talked about was important. Did they find the one who killed Samantha?" Jax asked immediately, making Lance think.

Ynna's pov

Everything was ready, but Clarke still wasn't here. Everest was already dressed, looking stunning in her knee-length white dress. I was excited for her to get engaged to Clarke. Seeing that Marju and Ambria were getting impatient, I suggested we go outside and find Lance and Jax at Jax's resort.

"Clarke's taking so long," Ambria whispered in my ear. Marju held Ambria's hand, staring at my friend as if he wouldn't blink again.

"Right? Where could he have gone?" Marju asked, sounding impatient.

"Hey, My Lady." I turned around when Jax spoke near my ear. His cheeks flushed when our eyes met. Blush Yarn? Jax is handsome, but he's too cocky and full of himself.

"My Lady, huh? Stop it. You're getting on my nerves. Where's your friend Clarke?" I rolled my eyes at Jax. He always gets flustered around me, staring at me nonstop.

"We don't know. He didn't text or call us." Jax said when his phone suddenly rang.

"Come to my house. I need to discuss something important with you two." I said to Jax, then turned off my phone.

"Alright, Lance and I are on our way, bro."

"You three stay here, My Lady. We'll just go to Clarke's house." Jax winked and blew me a flying kiss. He's so old, and he's still doing that. And in front of my friends, too. It's so embarrassing. Jax has no shame.

I raised an eyebrow at Jax. He still wouldn't stop with the flying kisses, so I hit him lightly with the book I was holding. "Stop calling me My Lady. I'm not your Lady! You idiot!"

Jax winced and quickly gave me a mischievous smile. "Ouch, Ynna! But you know what they say, when someone you love hurts you, it's a sign of love?"

Jax said, and I was about to hit him again with my book when he quickly ran into Lance's car.

"I LOVE YOU, MY LADY!"

"You two are so sweet! But seriously, you two would be a good match. You're both beautiful and handsome." Ambria said, and Marju agreed. I couldn't help but furrow my brows.

"Oh, stop it. We're not a good match. We're human... humans!" I said and walked towards Everest.

"Why did you call us here?" Jax asked immediately.

"Aren't you going to propose to Everest today?" Lance said.

I stood up to grab a cold beer from the fridge before answering their questions. "You're right, but I changed my mind."

Lance and Jax took the cold beer from my hand and sat next to me. "How can I marry the woman who killed my fiancé? Tell me, Jax!"

"Wait... The woman who killed Samantha is Ev... No, no, don't tell me it's Everest? The woman we've been looking for two years?" Lance said, unable to believe it.

"Yes, indeed!" I said, drinking my beer. Tears started rolling down my cheeks. I love Everest, it's true, but I can't accept the fact that the woman who became my world was the one who killed my first love, my fiancé.

"What are you going to do now?" Lance asked.

"I called her earlier, and she's on her way here. I'm breaking up with her today. After that, I'll make her suffer in ways she'll never want."

Clarke received a text message from Everest. "Deh, I'm outside. Hurry, I'm waiting."

"So, here's the woman who mercilessly killed my fiancé, Samantha?" Clarke said as I arrived at their Dankworth mansion. I could see his aura change. It was as if the Clarke standing in front of me was a different person. Why, out of all the men I could have met and loved, did I have to fall for Samantha's boyfriend? Samantha, who shot me when I was 13, almost killed me. And Samantha's father, who mercilessly murdered my parents. Right now, Clarke was furious with me, even though he didn't know the real reason why I did that to Samantha. And I'm sure Don Roman is the reason for all of this.

"Deh... Clarke, listen to me. Yes, I killed her, but it doesn't mean I'm a bad person. I have my reasons for doing that to her. So please hear my side of the story. Not everything you know is true."

"Did you plan all of this to get close to me? To make it easier to kill Samantha's father, too? Am I right? You're amazing, Everest. You fooled me.

"So go ahead, leave! Before I do something bad to you. Leave! Go!" Clarke told me as if we weren't a couple. The most painful thing I've ever experienced is not being believed by the person I love, not even being given a chance to explain.

"Don't do this to me, Clarke. I love you so much, and I can't lose you. I can't bear to be apart. I promise I'll do anything to make you forgive me. Just don't leave me."

"No! Remember this. We're over now! And you'll regret what you did to Samantha. I'll make you suffer until you die, Everest! Remember that!"

He dragged me out of the gate and pushed me hard.

''Clarke, I'm sorry. Please listen to me.''I said and cried.
