Suddenly, I heard a faint knock on the door just a few minutes after me and Darien parted. ‘Who could that be? Could it be Raven? Or an enemy? or is it Darien?’ I thought. "Darien?" I called out, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Yeah," his muffled voice replied. "Just checking in."

I smiled, feeling a surge of warmth. "Come in," I said, as I went to unlock the door. The door creaked open and Darien stood in the doorway, his eyes scanning my face.
