I raced alongside Claire, enjoying the wind ruffling my fur and the sun's caress on my back. Such times were the ones I valued most, those times that allowed me to take my mind off the dangers and threats that lay in wait.

As we continued, I sensed an easy calm in me. As a pack, we were secure, and we were calm. It was a feeling that I never for one instant took for granted, but which for all its worth I would fight to the last to maintain.
