That night, I video-called Mia until she drifted off to sleep. I longed to be there with her, but work kept me away. Smiling fondly, I watched Ethan gently lift her into his arms and tuck her into bed with the care of handling a delicate treasure. He pressed a soft kiss to her forehead before leaving her room.
