The intercom buzzed again while I was wiping down the kitchen counter. I pressed the button.

“Hello?”

“Olivia? It’s Joseph. I got your address from Sparkvibe Studio. I hate to ask, but I don’t have anywhere to sleep tonight. Could I stay just one night?” His voice sounded small and tired.
