When I woke up, it was like waking up from a troubled dream. The first thing I did was run my hand over my belly, and then I was shocked when I realized that my belly was empty. What? What does that mean? Had I lost my baby? I remembered Joseph kicking me and pushing me down the stairs, not caring that I was pregnant.

“No… my daughter…” I cried, feeling my belly in fear. “Please, my daughter…”
