“I like her,” my mother said with a proud smile. “She stood up for herself and her sisters. She’s going to be an excellent Luna for you, Ashton.”

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Oliver sitting at the edge of Maya’s bed, her voice soft as she murmured a question to him about the blood still on his hands.
