I kept trying to cast a spell, any spell, or at least summon a flicker of power to fight back. I wanted to kill Ciara so badly. But Maya… she had stripped everything from me. My magic was gone. Completely.

I still couldn’t make sense of how it had all happened so fast. One moment, I had the upper hand. I was hidden, perfectly. No one should have been able to find me. Even if they did, I should have been untouchable. Invincible.
