The dinner was a bore to Arya. All that was going on was an auction, men eating and drinking and talking business but everything they said was a bit coded. It was from the conversation however that she discovered Juan was into the wine business; he had a vinefields of grapes and had orchards across several countries.
His enemy Dominic was also into a similar business but they had illegal businesses she could not really get wind of from the conversation.
"Excuse me," Arya mumbled to Juan standing up. She had already found a way to escape from him. She would go to the restroom and that way he wouldn't be able follow her. Instead of going to the restroom, she would find an exit and run away.
"Where are you going love?" He asked in a sensual voice standing and putting his hand on the small of her back.
"I need to use the restroom," she smiled at him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'll be right back love."
Juan did not miss the sarcastic tone when she called him 'love'.
"Let's go."
"What?" She gasped raising her brows at him. She couldn't believe that he would want to follow her to the restroom.
"If you think I shall leave you alone for one second, you're quite mistaken mio angelo," he whispered against her. "Especially with Dominic here."
"Of course." She was annoyed, there was no way she was going to escape with him following her to the bathroom. Then, another thought crossed her mind. "You'll wait for me outside yeah?"
"Of course love." He held her waist and ushered her to the entrance of the restroom.
The stalls in the restroom had small windows but Arya was slim enough to fit through. She took of her shoes and pulled her dress up a bit, then she climbed the toilet and swung herself up. When her legs fit through the window, she slid down successfully and landed on the pavement.
Heaving a breath of relief, she began to run in a direction she didn't know. Her heart was beating against her chest painfully as she looked about her's trying to find the best place to exit the environment.
"Are you looking for something miss?" A security official asked, seeing her confusion.
"Um, where's the exit?" She asked, plastering a smile.
"Did you not come here with someone?"
"We kind of fought so I'm leaving," she grinned. "My boyfriend and I will sort it out later but right now, I don't want to see him."
"Well, then. Follow me," the guard said, leading her to the main road.
"Fuck," Arya mumbled, realizing that she didn't have any cash on her so there was no way she could board a taxi. "Can you spare me like five euros?" She asked. "Sorry, I haven't got anything in my purse and I'm not with my phone."
The guard regarded her suspiciously but gave her the money. Thanking him profusely she hailed a cab and stopped it. "Fray's Jeweller Shop please," she said.
Arya was happy that her freedom was so close to her, she smiled and looked out the window and when they got to the jeweller's she was overjoyed. Her escape had been simpler than she thought.
Pulling off the necklace from her neck, she entered the shop and greeted. "Hello, I'd like to trade this. It's real gold."
She wasn't sure what it was, but she suspected it had to be gold.
"Oh?" The jeweler was surprised as he looked at the necklace. "This is a rare piece. Are you sure you want to trade it?"
"Of course."
He nodded. "Give me a moment to sample this please. You may have a seat."
"Okay, no problem."
Her heart was still heavy as she sat down, the excitement and fear in her was like nothing she had ever experienced before. She could not help but be afraid that somehow, Juan would find her.
"I just need enough to be able to leave the country," she mumbled to herself. "Just that, and I'm good."
The man took a good twenty minutes before coming out with an apologetic look on his face. At first, she had thought the necklace was a fake so her heart was already sinking but when she looked to the left, she was surprised to see Juan standing at the entrance; his hands folded across his chest.
*+*+*+*+*
Juan kept waiting outside the stall and was surprised that she had not come out for so long. "Is everything alright mio Angelo?" He called out, knocking on the stall door but there was no answer.
He tried to push it open but it was bolted from the inside. "Arya."
Still there was no response. She has not come out from the stall so she had to be inside there. What on earth was taking her so long.
"Damn it Arya, be fucken fast with whatever you have to do." He rapped against the door. He needed to go back to the main hall because of the second auction that was going to take place. There was a bid he needed to win.
When he heard the announcement, he has no choice but to leave but not before telling the security guard that was there to watch out for a lady in a blue dress.
Even as he walked back to the main hall, his eyes scanned the passage and the rest of the room for Arya. It didn't make sense though; how had she left without his knowledge.
Suddenly, his phone dinged with a notification. It was from his second phone so he knew he had to treat it as urgent which was annoying because his night was hectic as it was. He was worried that either Arya had escaped or somehow she had been taken away by Dominic or one of his men.
I believe someone has stolen this from you.
