ZURI

The air in the hall held the echo of the screams and the energy of the magic still hanging around, waiting for its next victim.

I moved fast, wings of magic unfurling behind me as I leapt through the shattered window. The wind rushed against my face. It was thick with the smell of burned dust and old smoke.

My shoes touched the wide stone rail of the east balcony, and I balanced myself then looked down at the courtyard just below.
