I shuddered where I lay, sweat beads on my forehead and my hands, which held firm to the blanket that covered me, fell.

All I see is darkness, and memories of having her around fill my mind.

Dragging my body to roll over, I tried to be cautious not to squeeze the child beside me with my weight.

It took a while for my hand to reach the switch and once I did, the lamps woke up.
