Every eye on deck turned towards me. I sensed it.

Fear, but then, it twisted into a cruel grin. The sea wind slapped my face as the ship rocked but nothing sting as the look on their faces.

“Look at the monster,” a lanky deckhand muttered, his voice low enough that only his mates could hear, but loud enough for the wind to carry it straight to my ears.
