Chapter 2

Ava's POV

"Luna Ava," I opened my eyes and gasped for air.

I turned to see my aide, River, beside me. I looked at her in confusion.

Is she also dead?

"Luna Ava, it's time to see your betrothed, Alpha Sage. He is with his parents. They are already waiting for you downstairs."

"Your presence is needed," she bowed.

This happened two years ago. Why is it repeating itself over again?

"Uhm… What's today's date?" I looked around my room. It was painted dark blue just the way I remembered, with my table and chair at the side of my gigantic bed that had blue covers on it. This was my room before I got married.

My favorite color is blue, so I decided to use different shades of it in different parts of my room.

"It's February 2nd, 2016," she replied.

It's 2016, not 2018 anymore. It was two years before the day I died. I'm not dead anymore. How'd this happen? The Lady in Gold?

"Where are they?" I removed my duvet from my body and went to pick up a dress from my walk-in closet.

She followed me, "They're downstairs, at the courtyard Princess."

"Tell them I'll be down in a jiffy." She bowed and left the room.

My hands touched the dress I wore on this day, a yellow sundress and black sandals. I was happy to see Alpha Sage at that time, like a little child in a candy store, but I can't say the same right now.

I took out black cargo pants, a big white tee-shirt and my Nike shoes. I freshened up and put on some make-up before I headed downstairs.

"Hi mum and dad, good morning," I kissed their cheeks and looked at Alpha Sage, giving him a tight smile.

Mum and Dad had big smiles on their faces. “Good morning Hunny,” mum replied.

"Good Morning Ava," he stood up and held my waist.

"How was your night?"

I looked at his hand on my waist, goosebumps filled my skin in disgust. I remembered how he joined forces with my brother to kill me. He deliberately plunged a knife through my chest, and stared till I took my last breath. I shut my eyes tightly as I reminisced about that event. A tear dared to slip down my face, but I shut my eyes and took a deep breath instead.

"Fine."

"I'm going to get something to eat, mom." I looked at her. She was smiling brightly. I walked towards the kitchen and served something to eat. Sage was right behind me, "Won't you serve your husband to be?"

"You can serve yourself if you're hungry," I continued with what I was doing.

"Woke up on the wrong side of the bed I saw. Maybe we could go for a stroll in the evening, when I'm done with discussing pack matters with your parents. We have a lot to talk about."

"I'll think about it. I'm actually going out right now, and I don't know when I'll be back."

He leaned down to kiss my cheek, but I subtly moved my face away from his, grabbing more dishes in the process.

We'll see whenever you're done with talking to them. "I'm going on a run after now, so I'll see you whenever I get back," I slipped away and went to eat in the sitting room where my twin brother, Alvin, was watching football.

My very own brother who joined Sage to kill me.

“Hey sis, how do you do?” He smiled.

“I’m good.” I took my food to my room to eat.

After eating one fourth of my food due to lack of appetite, I dropped my plate on the kitchen island and went outside to get fresh air.

A lot of thoughts ran through my mind. I ran my hand through my hair over and over again.

What would my parents have thought? Cause there’s no way they would come clean about killing me in cold blood. I sat on the lawn grass at a corner of the pack house.

What if the moon goddess didn’t give me a second chance?

Where would I have been right now? Six feet under?

Tears slipped down my cheeks. I wanted to be strong, but I needed to let my weak side go away first. After some minutes, I wiped my face and stood up.

I will not allow them to win against me. I must fight, and win.

I took a little stroll before I went inside the house, straight to my room.

Before I could sit on my bed, someone knocked on my door.

I didn't know something was following behind me… What's with all this disturbance?!

I took a deep breath, then I opened the door. It was Alpha Sage.

"Yes."

"Do you need anything?" I rested by the door frame.

“Can I talk to you in private?” He scratched his neck.

“I’m listening.” I didn’t move an inch.

“Can we go inside for more privacy, please?” He stared at me. His puppy dog eyes were a beautiful temptation that I couldn’t resist easily.

I shifted from the door frame to give him space to enter the room. He came in and shut the door behind him.

"Good evening," I tried plastering a fake smile.

He pressed me on the door and put his head on my neck, giving kisses all around my body. I placed my hands around his neck, while his hands were on my waist. I leaned to his familiar touch, savoring the moment.

"You've always had this effect on me, Ava. I saw when you passed, you didn't look too good."

"Did anything happen?" He went down, kissing parts of my breast that were exposed.

"No… nothing."

My heart started beating faster as I pressed closer to him. Memories of us together started playing in my head.

Even if I wanted to take revenge on him, I can't deny that I still feel a connection to him, my feelings for him. I loved him.

"That's why I couldn't care less if you were my mate or not. We were destined to be together, and I love you."

Love? That’s a strong word from someone who betrayed me.

My mind reverted to the murder incident and I quickly shoved him off me. I breathed heavily, trying to calm myself. I can’t allow myself to fall for his flimsy attempt.

"What do you want?" I asked. My face was straight.

He got closer, "Maybe we could just continue from where we stopped."
