Chapter 3

Ava’s POV

"I really love you and I mean it, that's exactly why we're getting married, isn't it?"

His eyes were pleading with me to believe him, but I ignored him.

"I had a really stressful day, and I need to rest," I massaged my head a bit.

"Maybe I could help you relieve your stress," he said. He held my waist and pulled me closer, burying his head in my neck again. He softly pressed my back with his fingers, his hands slipped lower into my trousers.

I pushed him away before he tried to do it anymore. His grip was still firm on my waist.

"Let's talk tomorrow."

"Maybe we could go out too," I smiled, but I doubt my smile reached my eyes. I slowly detached myself from him.

His eyes brightened up, and he smiled at me, "Okay then. Then I'll see you tomorrow at 12."

He kissed my forehead, then he turned around to leave.

"Goodnight love, I'll see you tomorrow." He shut the door behind him.

I signed.

I went to have my bath, then I laid down on my bed. I twisted and turned to find a comfortable position on my bed, but it wasn't working. Sleep didn't come easily. I finally gave up and went downstairs to get something to drink.

I don't really know where I should start from. What the prophecy is about and who I am to meet. In addition to the revenge, I have to plan and execute without any suspicion.

The lights in the pack house were turned off. The only light illuminating the place was the moon shining outside, casting a soft glow in the kitchen.

I heard faint voices coming from the kitchen, and so I hid behind a pillar to see who they were.

"Are you sure she wouldn't suspect this?" The voice sounded a bit on the edge.

"She's not as smart as you think. Just make sure you don't make it obvious."

"You can't afford to flop." My brother held Sage at the back of his neck and brought their foreheads together.

Sage looked up and sniffed the air, "I think someone is coming."

He tried to pull away from Alvin, but Alvin pulled him closer and kissed him.

"I can't smell anything, maybe it's my arousal you're perceiving. Besides, we haven't been together for some time, and you're always all over my sister."

"Can't we stay together for tonight?" he whispered seductively.

Sage bent down and kissed him back, then he unbuckled Alvin's trousers and slid his hand inside.

Alvin pushed his head back, and shut his eyes.

"Let's take this upstairs." Sage slapped Alvin's butt.

Alvin let out a breath, "We would have done a quickly here. After all, no one was watching."

He dragged Sage's hand, "You can't turn me on and not expect a wild night. Let's go have some rounds,

 Shall we?"

Alvin dragged a wine bottle on his way out, and they went upstairs together.

What the hell did I just witness?

I stood there for a few minutes.

Has this been happening under my nose ever since? How did I not notice? How could I have been so foolish?

I went to my room without getting the milk that I had initially gone downstairs to get.

I kept asking why? Why me?

Why did my brother and husband do that to me? What did I do to offend them? If it was because of their relationship, I would have given up so that they could get married.

At this point, I would have preferred to be six feet under than to watch as they betrayed me. I wonder what generational curse the moon goddess was talking about. I couldn't think of anything.

I stared at my ceiling till dawn, getting little to no sleep at night.

I stood up from my bed, freshened up and decided to go for a run to ease my mind. My wolf, Lia, has been very quiet ever since we returned. I know it was hard for her to accept Sage as our mate, but she did, and she loved him just as much as she would love our mate. She’s also mourning the loss of our little one. We both are.

She had warned me that Sage was cheating on us, but I was in love. I didn't listen. Maybe if I had paid more attention, things would have been different.

I went to a secret corner of the house and removed my clothes, shifted into my wolf, and started running off into the forest. My white fur whipped through the air as I ran faster on my fore and hind limbs.

How was I reborn two years back and why?

Who is He? And why is he coming?

What curse was she talking about?

I felt frustrated by my unanswered questions. I lifted my head, and howled.

I scented a whiff of chocolate and caramel mixed with smoke. I padded cautiously towards the scent, hiding behind the trees.

The broad shoulders of a huge guy faced me. He was wearing a black shirt and black trousers. His hair was a bit rough, as though he had run his hands through it a thousand and one times.

I was some meters behind him, but I knew the scent was coming from him. He threw his cigarette butt on the grass and groaned in annoyance.

I don't know if it was just me, or if that groan sounded sexy.

My wolf took control and I started padding towards him. Before I could take control of myself, I was already very close to him.

The hairs on his neck stood, and he turned back swiftly. His eyes were the first to catch my attention, a beautiful shade of blue. My favorite color.

I took a few steps back, and bent my head. I wanted him to touch me, I just wanted to contact him. He bent down and placed his hand on my head, touching me down to my back. I purred in satisfaction.

He didn't smell like a pack member, and I highly doubt he'd be a human, because humans don't come here. So who is this man?

He jerked away from me as though he had just regained himself, then he started shifting.

He was shifting into something else, not a wolf.

"Run."

"Get away from me as fast as possible," he shouted.

He staggered back, creating some space between us.

I walked towards him, whimpering softly.

I just met you. I can't leave now. You're my mate.

"Get out of here as fast as you can."

"If you don't want to die," he hissed his fangs at me.
