They said the end of the war would bring silence.

But no one warned me how loud it would be.

The screams had faded, the fires smothered, the clash of bodies and snapping bones replaced by the soft, unbroken hush of snow beneath boots and paws.

Speaking of the snow, it fell at the end of the war. And everyone watched the flakes drop from the heavens like they had been waiting for a victor to emerge.
