I woke up drowning in fire.

Not heat from Kael’s scar. Not the rage of my own bloodfire. But something deeper, something tearing inside me, clawing its way out.

My womb convulsed, and for a moment I thought labor had come too soon. But no it was not birth. It was eruption.

Kael gripped me, his hand pressed against my belly, his eyes wide with horror.
