Chapter 70 The Fire of Nothingness

“You have been here for quite a while, and must have absorbed much of the resentment down there! This cliff was where the Fire God killed countless innocent people and looted their fires. Most of these people suffered unjust death with strong resentment, and their bodies were thrown right off the cliff. You must have accumulated much resentment in you, I suppose. And you finally made up your mind and crawled up after seeing that the Fire God falling down the cliff,” said Ronghua.

The giant skeleton did not reply. He stared at Ronghua with his terrifying eyes.

Ronghua continued to say, “You thought that since the people up here could defeat the Fire God, they must be strong. Thus, you will be able to leave here as soon as you have absorbed their power. Is that right?”

After Ronghua had finished, the giant skeleton finally understood what they were doing. He covered his face with his osteal hands and laughed. “He-he-he... HA-HA-HA! Little girl, you are smart!” said the giant skeleton.

Ronghua lowered her head in affirmation of the giant skeleton’s remark.

“But you did not realize that you guys could never leave!” said the giant skeleton.

“Indeed, we do not have much chance of leaving here!” thought Ronghua.

“But...” said Jun Lang.

“We will be able to leave once we have killed you,” said Jun Lang, licking his tulwar like a beast, “If you are dead, won’t we be able to leave?”

Noticing the situation was becoming increasingly dire, Ba Luo cowardly ran to Ronghua in silence, looking at her with his weepy eyes. Ba Luo was clearly signaling his fear and his desire to leave.

Ronghua looked at him and said, “Ok, come in.”

Ba Luo then swiftly ran into Ronghua’s body.

Now with one enemy gone, the giant skeleton was calm. “Their chance could have been greater if that thunder-summoning wolf stayed. But now it seems they never intended to use that wolf, and I shall not give in,” thought the giant skeleton.

“What, you think you guys could defeat me without that wolf?” asked the giant skeleton. He then smiled malignantly and noticed that he had collected much Yin qi in his hands. The reason why he had talked to these humans was that it would make time for him to absorb enough Yin qi to break the cage.

Ronghua lowered her head and pondered for a while. She then walked to the giant skeleton and asked, “Could you think of how I will deal with you?”

“Human tricks,” replied the giant skeleton.

Ronghua smiled and said, “Your confidence stems from this cliff and from the Yin qi convened here over the past few hundreds of years! You have absorbed so much Yin qi and cannot leave. Maybe the reason why you cannot leave is that you died here.”

Ronghua’s remark seemed to have touched the giant skeleton. The giant skeleton then asked, “What makes you think so?”

“Why can’t I think of that? This place is filled with Yin qi. Have you ever wondered why Jun Lang and I were fine, but you could not come out?” asked Ronghua. She stopped smiling and looked at the giant skeleton calmly.

The giant skeleton looked at Jun Lang, who was getting ready to fight. Then he turned his sight to Ronghua’s bright eyes. He could not hold back his feelings and said, “You...”

Seeing the giant skeleton was getting enraged, Ronghua retrieved her fire and said, “You’d better stop moving, otherwise...”

But the giant skeleton obviously could not listen to them anymore. He started to absorb the Yin qi down there crazily and gathered them in his body, hoping to beat down Ronghua and Jun Lang with one strong hit. “Die here and become part of me!” shouted the giant skeleton.

Ronghua shook her head and said, “I have told you the consequences, don’t blame me afterward.”

“Die!” shouted the giant skeleton. He then broke the cage and ran toward Ronghua.

Though Jun Lang might seem lighthearted, he immediately ran toward the giant skeleton and struck him with his tulwar when he saw the skeleton was about to attack Ronghua. He hit the Yin qi in the skeleton’s hands. With the clashing of two kinds of distinctive qi, a wave of wind blasted out. Ronghua closed her eyes and turned her face to dodge the blast wave.

Though the giant skeleton had absorbed much Yin qi, he was still not as powerful as Jun Lang. Ronghua saw everything. She did not say anything, nor did she want to ask any question.

After Jun Lang took the giant skeleton’s attack, he then hacked right back to the giant skeleton. Surprisingly, the giant skeleton fell back.

The giant skeleton left deep trenches on the ground as he fell back. The burning fire on his body showed that he was thoroughly angered.

“I will you kill!” said the giant skeleton.

Suddenly, Ronghua felt that the Yin qi was congregating in the air. “Is he trying to absorb Yin qi again?” asked Ronghua.

Jun Lang turned around lightheartedly and said, “Perhaps.”

Ronghua smiled coldly and said, “He still has not given up.”

Ronghua was manipulating the flames surrounding the cliff. The fire was burning bright. In the next moment, the fire expanded and burst down the cliff with irresistible force. The giant skeleton clearly saw what Ronghua was doing and he realized that he could not collect the Yin qi anymore, no matter how hard he had tried.

“The power you’ve got is just the Yin qi congregating down the cliff over the past few hundreds or even thousands of years. You are nothing without the Yin qi. I suppose you have absorbed all the energy of the Fire God that fell earlier, and I think you have felt the irresistible temptation of the power in his body. Yes, that’s my power. He thought I would die after he absorbed my fire. But, no. He only took a tiny fraction of my power. He is nothing!” said Ronghua.

The giant skeleton said, “His fire! He had absorbed so much fire from talented kids. Why did he absorb your fire too? But even if he did, so what?” “Also, why are you still alive?” wondered the giant skeleton.

Ronghua raised her eyebrows and shook her head in frustration. “I am underestimated,” thought Ronghua. She turned back after she had recovered from her frustration.

“Have you ever heard of the fire of nothingness?” asked Ronghua.

Ronghua mentioned the fire of nothingness with a light tone. “The fire of nothingness? Is it the fire that came from the netherworld? How did she get that fire? Did she come from there? No, that is impossible. No one could leave the netherworld, and the fire of nothingness is not possessed by a girl. But could she be...” wondered the giant skeleton.

Ronghua was satisfied with the skeleton’s reaction. “But don’t think too much. I am that person!” said Ronghua with calm eyes. But if anyone looked carefully into Ronghua’s eyes, he or she would notice something uncanny in her eyes.

“You really think I will believe you? The fire of nothingness is not something you can get by words!” said the giant skeleton. “The fire of nothingness is not an ordinary fire. It can burn everything into naught; it can burn through the nadir in the netherworld, the road to the netherworld; wreck the sky and the ground altogether, and make them regress to pure chaos. The fire can destroy the soul of all living things, and it’s currently possessed by the King of Death from the Realm of Demons. Why can she own it?” thought the giant skeleton.

“And I have never heard that his daughter is around!” thought the giant skeleton.

“It seems that you have never experienced despair, and do not know what is true death. Open your eyes and look! Is this the fire of nothingness?” said Ronghua.

Ronghua manipulated the fire around the cliff. The fire then expanded rapidly, forming a cordon around the cliff.

The giant skeleton finally realized that the woman might be telling the truth. It was possible that she really had the fire of nothingness.

“Despicable!” said the giant skeleton.

That was all the giant skeleton could manage to say. Ronghua sneered at the giant skeleton and said, “I don’t know why you think I am despicable. I have only done one thing that you did not believe I could.”

The giant skeleton indeed did not expect Ronghua would use the fire of nothingness and thought that was only a bluff. He thought he could wait until Ronghua gave up. Yet, to the giant skeleton’s surprise, Ronghua really had the fire of nothingness.

“These unusual flames were burning bright. They came from the hell and would burn brighter with Yin qi, and this place is filled with Yin qi. I am afraid that I will be helpless when these flames burn all of the Yin qi. No, that will not be the case!” thought the giant skeleton.

Ronghua said, “Be careful. He’s enraged and ready to fight to his death!”

Upon hearing Ronghua’s remark, Jun Lang took back his tulwar and started to make a mudra with his hands naturally. Standing in front of Ronghua, Jun Lang asked, “Dear, what is our plan now?”

Ronghua contemplated and said, “We will wait till the fire of nothingness burns out all the Yin qi here. And if that’s done, I will probably become more powerful.”

Jun Lang turned his face to look at Ronghua. He had never seen her act in a fluster. “I have never seen her acting as if she is afraid of something or perplexed,” thought Jun Lang.

“Dear Hua Sheng!” said Jun Lang.

Ronghua heard his remark and wondered, “Why did he call me Hua Sheng again?”

“What? And why do you keep on calling me that?” asked Ronghua.

Jun Lang was disappointed and asked, “You don’t like that?”

Ronghua replied indifferently, “I don’t like it, but I also don’t hate it. Hua Sheng! Sounds good, though.”

“Didn’t you told me to call you Hua Sheng? Your name is Hua Sheng; Hua stands for the serenity in the deep mountains; Sheng stands for the melody played by the bamboo flute made of bamboos from Mt. Kun Lun,” said Jun Lang.

Ronghua was irritated and said, “I told you, I have never seen you before and have not told you my name is Hua Sheng.”

Jun Lang was uneased. With his telling eyes, Jun Lang said, “Have you forgot that?” Ronghua looked at him calmly and said, “Maybe. But I don’t know. Maybe I’ve met you somewhere before. But now, I do not know who you are.”

Jun Lang was disappointed. “Really? She really has lost all her memories?” wondered Jun Lang.

“AHHHHHHHHH...” roared the giant skeleton.

Ronghua and Jun Lang’s attention was drawn back to the struggling giant skeleton. They both looked at him coldly.

“What? Can’t hold on anymore?” asked Ronghua with irony, “You just told me that you could do it confidently. What’s happening now?”

Though the giant skeleton was in great pain, he replied with difficulty, “Don’t be too boastful, bitch!”

Ronghua’s smile suddenly disappeared and was quickly replaced by an appalling fake smile. “Insulting me is not wise,” said Ronghua.

Ronghua then lifted the giant skeleton to the air, with a terrifying smile on her face. Anyone would be scared by Ronghua’s smile, except Jun Lang, for that was not the first time he had seen Ronghua smiled like that.

“As far as I could remember, the people that did bad things to Hua Sheng, and those who were unrestraint or disobeyed her are all dead now,” thought Jun Lang.

“She once said she knew that she had to become powerful from the outset of her cultivation. Because the other would listen and fear her. With enough power, she would not care if the others were just paying lip-services to her without genuine respect, and she would not be afraid of others anyway. She had never wanted to live like a virtuous person and kill the villains with kindness. She would not be afraid of anything as long as she remained powerful,” thought Jun Lang.

He did not quite understand Hua Sheng’s words back then, for she was caged, and he did not try to understand her words anyway. But at this moment, Jun Lang understood her words and realized that Hua Sheng had already concealed her true self from the outside world and would not let anyone get close to it.

“So even if she is talking to you casually, it does not mean that she trusts you,” thought Jun Lang.

“She could also sit down and enjoy a cup of tea with you over some jokes, but it also does not mean that she respects you,” thought Jun Lang.

“Dear Hua Sheng!” said Jun Lang.

Ronghua turned back and looked at him coldly. “I will say this the last time. My name is Ronghua, not Hua Sheng. Understand?” said Ronghua.

Jun Lang lowered his head and forced a smile. He thought his past life was like a joke. “People like Hua Sheng would never tell you their real names,” thought Jun Lang.

“Ronghua. This name is pretty much like her previous pseudonyms,” thought Jun Lang.

“Hua stands for the serenity in the deep mountains; Sheng stands for the melody played by the bamboo flute made of bamboos from Mt. Kun Lun,” thought Jun Lang.

“Isn’t that her real name?” wondered Jun Lang.
