Drek's smile was infectious as he gazed at me, his eyes sparkling with warmth. We had been friends for a long time, despite my infrequent visits.

"You're just as ageless as ever, Lucian. You look even younger than before," he said, extending his hand to greet me.

I shook it, smiling briefly.

"You're back at this, man," I teased, trying to lighten the mood.

I mean, Drek was a good man who at most loved the coming together of humans and vampires to live in the same world.
