I turned to Ryder, and took in a deep breath, ready to speak. However, a maid came to pour water into my glass, and as she did so, she slipped a note into my lap subtly.

I took it without raising any suspicions, and she left after pouring me water. Slowly, I pried the note open, and saw it was definitely a note from Valerie.
