The first thing I saw when I woke up was his face. His eyes were shut peacefully as he sat in a chair right besides….the bed?

I blinked, unsure how I'd gotten on a bed so fast. I remember being at the clinic with Nathan and not the other way round.

Still confused, my eyes remained on him, noticing how his elbows rested on his knees, his head buried there like he’d been in that position for hours.

My throat felt dry as I tried to call out his name in the lowest tone ...
