Adina's POV

My hand still rested on my stomach, the dull ache a constant reminder of the fragility of the life growing inside me. Nathan’s face, etched with worry, was the last thing I saw before he left the room. A few minutes later, he returned with a warm cup of water, the steam rising in a thin wisp.
