Nathan's POV

The sight of her retreating form, her shoulders slumped in defeat, was a knife to my gut. The words she'd thrown at me, so raw and filled with pain, were a searing brand on my conscience. I watched her walk away, and a cold wave of guilt washed over me. I couldn't let her go to bed like this. Not after the way I had so carelessly hurt her.
