Chapter 119 Intercede for Jiang Wei

"Well, you have tight lips, but my sword hasn't drunk blood for a long time!" Zhu Mu stared at the servant coldly as the servant refused to answer him.

The servant quivered and answered by fits and starts, "Infanta Qingcheng's... residence... is... over there!"

He pointed at Yang Zijin's courtyard.

Zhu Mu got the answer and hit the servant in the back of the head with one-third of his strength.

The servant was knocked out.

Zhu Mu headed toward the yard that the servant pointed at. "That's right, it must be this yard." He thought. He heard that Infanta Qingcheng was going to be married, and there were red lanterns hanging on the door of this yard.

Zhu Mu jumped onto the wall to observe the yard.

Someone was standing in the doorway of the room. It was Jiang Wei.

Zhu Mu's eyes turned to the other side and he found a window to go through.

He jumped off from the wall, stole to the window, and skimmed into the room.

He went directly to Yang Zijin's bed.

And he put the sword onto Yang Zijin's throat.

Yang Zijin, who was sound asleep, felt something cold on her neck. She opened her eyes, alarmed.

In the moonlight, Yang Zijin saw a veiled man pointing a sword at her throat.

She didn't panic. She thought this man must have come for something. Otherwise, he would have killed her when she was asleep.

What was more, this man must be a master in martial arts. Jiang Wei was guarding the door, but she didn't find this man coming into her room, so his kongfu must be better than Jiang Wei.

Yang Zijin thought she'd better deal with him strategically.

Yang Zijin wanted to get up from the bed, but as she had just moved her body, the veiled man pressed the sword on her throat. Sharp blade cut into her neck and blood oozed from the wound.

"Don't move! My sword has no eyes!" Zhu Mu moved his arm with which held the sword.

Yang Zijin wasn't scared by him. She went on asking, "What can I do for you? Even I'll be killed, I want to know the reason." She added.

"I know you are a smart one. Give me the card and I might just spare your life." Zhu Mu was surprised by her calm. Under this situation, most women would already be trembling with fear, while she kept cool and maintained her composure.

It reminded him of the ambush of Princess Royal. Yang Zijin had a temper just like her mother.

Yang Zijin frowned slightly. As she had expected, Princess Royal died from this card, but she never thought the enemy came to her no sooner than she had just found it. Shuo Ling was right.

"Card? What is that?" Yang Zijin decided to feign ignorance to test Zhu Mu about how much did he know.

Zhu Mu snorted, "Don't play ignorance, Your Highness. I heard that you have the card that Princess Royal left behind."

Zhu Mu removed the sword from Yang Zijin's neck.

Judging from the conversation just now, he thought Yang Zijin was a smart woman that she won't struggle in vain.

"I can tell you that I didn't carry that card on me." Yang Zijin got up and sat on the bed, looking at Zhu Mu in the eye.

Zhu Mu snorted at Yang Zijin's explanation. He pressed the sword to her neck again, "Don't play tricks with me! If you don't hand it over, I'll look for it myself. You'd better think before you answer me!"

Yang Zijin was thinking about how to escape when she saw Shuo Ling standing outside the window. Shuo Ling gestured for her to keep quiet, and then pointed at the sword on her shoulder. Yang Zijin understood what he was going to do.

Shuo Ling wanted her to cope with that man, and he would come in when the sword was away from her.

Back on to the window, Zhu Mu was thinking about how to make Yang Zijin give him the card. He didn't know Shuo Ling was outside the window because Shuo Ling hid his breath on purpose.

Yang Zijin changed her attitude and smiled at Zhu Mu, "Since I'm not able to fool you, you can take the card away. Anyway, I don't know the use of it."

Zhu Mu didn't reply. Yang Zijin Continued, "Please put the sword away. Then I'll take it for you. Don't worry, I'm so weak that I can't escape from you."

Zhu Mu removed the sword from Yang Zijin's neck after thinking for a while.

Yang Zijin stood up, put the pillow away, and took the card from under the quilt.

Zhu Mu couldn't help smiling when he saw the card.

"If you had handed it over earlier, you wouldn't have..."

Just at this moment, Shuo Ling skipped into the room through the window and gave Zhu Mu a hard blow with eight-tenth of his Kongfu.

Zhu Mu noticed Shuo Ling and turned around before his words finished, but it was too late. Shuo Ling's blow made him backed several steps. Blood oozed from his mouth corner.

Yang Zijin put away the card and ran to Shuo Ling.

"Marquis Shuo, it's you!" Zhu Mu recognized Shuo Ling.

He was hit hard by Shuo Ling. Although judging by appearance, his injury wasn't serious, Zhu Mu himself was aware that his organs were badly stroke by that blow.

Shuo Ling held Yang Zijin in his arms, looking at the wound on her neck. Then he moved his eyes on Zhu Mu with a murderous complexion, "How dare you hurt my wife!"

He drew his sword, pointing it at Zhu Mu.

Zhu Mu knew that he could not waste his time here. If he wasn't hurt, he could fight with Shuo Ling, but now, with this internal injury, he would certainly die from it.

Jiang Wei heard the noise and hurriedly pulled the door open. She saw Shuo Ling and a veiled man standing in the room.

Jiang Wei froze.

She had no idea when did these two men come into the room.

The veiled man rushed to the window, jumped out, and disappeared in the darkness.

Jiang Wei was going to chase him, but Shuo Ling stopped her, "No need to do that."

She knelt on the ground, "Sorry, My Lord. Please punish me for my dereliction of duty!"

"You deserve it. Go back to retrain yourself!" Shuo Ling ordered coldly.

Jiang Wei paused, but she nodded, "Yes!"

Yang Zijin didn't know the content of retraining, but judging from Jiang Wei's face, it couldn't be a light punishment.

Yang Zijin pulled Shuo Ling's clothes, "If you drive Jiang Wei away, I won't have capable assistants."

"You can get a new assistant." Shuo Ling answered without thinking about it.

Yang Zijin quickly opposed, "Get a new one? My Lord, Jiang Wei has been waiting upon me for a long time. I'm satisfied with her."

"No, Jiang Wei failed in her duty today. If I didn't come in time, you know how severe the consequence would be." Shuo Ling didn't change his mind.

Shuo Ling had made up his mind.

So, Yang Zijin used her wit and asked Shuo Ling, "My Lord, in the beginning, you sent Jiang Wei to me."

"Yes." Shuo Ling didn't know why Yang Zijin stressed this, but he still nodded.

Yang Zijin smiled as Shuo Ling was taken in. She continued, "You have sent Jiang Wei to me, so I'm her master. It's my right to punish her, not yours."

"You..." Shuo Ling turned around to look at Yang Zijin.

He saw the bleeding wound on Yang Zijin's neck, so he immediately held her up onto the bed with both arms.

He asked with concern, "How do you feel?"

"I'm fine. I won't die from it." Yang Zijin sulked at Shuo Ling's fuss.

Shuo Ling ordered Jiang Wei who was still kneeling on the ground, "What are you doing? Go and get vulnerary!"

"Oh... Yes, My Lord!" Gathering her wits together, Jiang Wei took out vulnerary from her clothes and went to the window.

It was her habit to take vulnerary all the time.

Jiang Wei was trying to help Yang Zijin with the powder when Shuo Ling spoke again, "I'll do it."

Whereupon she handed the powder to Shuo Ling and stood aside.

Shuo Ling gently sprinkled the vulnerary onto Yang Zijin's wound in the neck.

When the powder touched the wound, Yang Zijin could not help letting out a groan.

"It hurts a little at first, but it gets better in a little while." Shuo Ling comforted Yang Zijin, looking at her softly.

Yang Zijin nodded.

Jiang Wei watched their interaction blankly. She had never seen Shuo Ling gave such a soft look to anyone before. Marquis Shuo's eyes were always cold and supercilious.

She had never thought he could be so gentle.

As Shuo Ling had told her, the wound didn't hurt anymore. Yang Zijin said, "My Lord, it's late tonight. You should go back to rest."

"Never mind. I won't leave until you are asleep." Shuo Ling gave Yang Zijin an answer beyond her expectation.

Yang Zijin was about to refuse but nodded at last after she thought it over.

Jiang Wei backed out of the room and shut the door.

In this way, Shuo Ling waited until Yang Zijin fell asleep, and then he left.

In the mansion of the Third Prince.

Zhu Mu walked into Chushi Weiming's room.

Chushi Weiming hadn't slept yet. He saw Zhu Mu returned and rushed over to ask him with anxiety, "How did it go? Have you got the card?"

Zhu Mu shook his head.

Chushi Weiming's face paled. He questioned, "What the hell was going on? How could you fail?"

Zhu Mu vomited a spout of blood.

"What's that? Are you hurt?" Chushi Weiming asked.

Zhu Mu wiped the blood on his mouth corner with sleeves, "I was going to make it, but Marquis Shuo came in the nick of the time. He wounded me with a blow by surprise."

He coughed again as he spoke.

"It's Shuo Ling again! He is always in the way!" Chushi Weiming's face twitched with rage.

Shuo Ling also incommoded him in his marriage with Liu Yiyi.

Now he had alerted them and they would surely be on guard against him. It would be more difficult for him to get the card.

Chushi Weiming said, "Back off and get some rest. Don't tell my mother about what we have done today."

"Yes, Your Highness!" Zhu Mu answered and went outside the room. He quickly disappeared into the darkness.

Shuo Ling had returned to his mansion. "Who did this?" He thought.

The veiled man recognized him. Therefore, his master must belong to the same class with Shuo Ling. However, according to Yang Zijin, she had just found the card. Then why did the wire-puller know it so fast?

So, there must be someone watching Yang Zijin, and that person saw this card.

Shuo Ling made a detailed analysis.

If someone was watching Yang Zijin, then Yang Zijin's safety would be threatened.

However, two days later, she would marry him. Those who were coveting the card dared not act rashly.

Shuo Ling let out a deep sigh. Somehow, he had a presentiment of something bad, but he didn't know why.

Early the next morning, Yang Zijin woke up. She touched on the wound in her neck. The wound had formed a scab.

Yang Zijin called Jiang Wei at the door in.

"You are awake, Your Highness."

"Find me a dress with a high collar."

"Yes, Your Highness."
