JEREMIAH'S POV

The bitter coffee had gone cold an hour ago, but I kept drinking it anyway. My desk table was scattered with several paperwork and ink marks staining some of the white sheet.

Daniel leaned against the furniture, his arms crossed. "You should raise the price on the town hall project," he said for the third time. "At least twenty percent."

"It's for the town." I sighed, rubbing my eyes. "For the mayor-"

"The mayor's a stingy bastard," Daniel cut in, his jaw tightening.
