I woke up to someone staring at me, their gaze heavy enough to pull me out of the fog clouding my mind. I blinked a few times, my vision clearing, and saw Freya sitting beside my bed. 

Her eyes were swollen, red-rimmed from crying, and her face was pale, almost ghostly. 

My heart twisted at the sight of her. “Freya,” I said softly, my voice hoarse from disuse.
