“Get her up,” I said.

The two guards dragged the girl from the floor and threw her at my feet like though she was garbage. The auction hall had gone completely silent. And everyone watched me. No one breathed too loud.

The girl’s knees hit the marble. She tried to cover her chest, her wrists were bruised from the tight cuffs and she wouldn’t even look up.

The auctioneer cleared his throat. “Mr. Moretti, your purchase is complete, sir. The girl is yours.”
