Chapter Three

Louise didn't get to hear what her father said as she was dragged down to the meeting room. She was the daughter of a nobleman and as usual she had quite the reputation.

“Father, what is this about?” She couldn't help but ask as they walked down the hallways. Her father didn't answer her but just kept ignoring her.

She had allowed the poor man almost have a heart attack by drinking poison. Lady Stellar has always been knows for her bold ways and her ruthless attitude despite being unwanted by her own father.

“Could you just shut up and just wait to see what happens” The old man finally responds out of sheer disgust.

The whole fortress wasn't built too extravagantly but it was beautiful nevertheless. There were lots of rooms, guards and maids both hired and paid by her father. Louise felt jealous of how rich her father was as she looked around the hallway. The meeting room was a place where the family either held important meetings or where her father's council talk on things concerning the village.

As the door to the meeting room was pushed open, Louise looked around the room and just two people where inside. An older woman with blonde hair and deep brown eyes sat there, looking at Louise with nothing but disdain, the other person in the room was younger but looked exactly like the older woman.

Louise smiled at them but they both pretended as if she didn't exist. “I'm glad our lovely princess survived suicide” The older woman spat as Stellar's father took a seat beside him wife.

Louise not knowing where to sit sat beside the girl she thought was her step sister. Lord Randolf cleared his throat as he looked at his illegitimate daughter with nothing but regret and anger.

“I get you don't want to get married, stellar. But you have to do it for the sake of our village, the family in question is filthy rich and can make you happy. Why go to the extent of poison” Louise stared at her father slowly processing his words, so stellar took poison because she didn't want to get married to a man who felt nothing for her.

“With all due respect, I'm not the only daughter you have, why offer me for marriage?” Louise responded feeling the mother and daughter duo turn to look at her but she didn't even flinch.

“You are the eldest daughter and it is a taboo for your younger sister to get married before you. Just do this for your father and get married” The old man looked almost pitiful and Louise just sighed. She had no idea why stellar didn't want to marry that man and how she would feel if Louise agreed to it.

After much thought, she stood up from her chair taking a deep breath. “If that is what you want, so be it”

Louise didn't wait for anyone to respond and left the room. Calmly and with a plan in mind, stellar might not like the man Louise chose to marry but she would try her best to make things workout so the man would fall in love with her.

Lord Randolf sat there, shocked and confused. He had to even turn to look at his wife who just shrugged.“Maybe that poison helped us sef her straight” she said but her husband just stroked his chin in thought.

It could be that or something else. They had completely no idea but they were grateful she had at least agreed to get married.

Days went by in a flash and the news about Stellar's marriage to a mysterious and bedridden duke spread around the village. Louise felt bad hearing her soon to be husband was bed ridden, maybe getting married to such a man was too hard.

She had taken care of her mother when the muscles in her legs had gone weak and it wasn't that hard. Louise found it fun and simple but she wasn't really a fan. As she got back from her room after a short jog, she was surprised to meet lots of boxes that scented like sandalwood and lavender.

“What is this?” She asked the maid who had just added another box to the pile.

“My lady, the Duke sent this over as wedding gifts. I hope you enjoy them” the maid's face was pale and she hurried to finish her words. Immediately she did, she bowed again before running out of the room.

Louise shook her head as she approached one of the boxes, it had a really expensive perfume, it made Louise smile. The Duke seemed to care about stellar, so Louise couldn't exactly understand why the latter didn't want to get involved into it much.

After taking a last smell of the perfume, she returned it back to the box, slowly moving away from the gifts. Louise looked up at the guard who was standing outside and staring at her, but he just avoided her gaze like it didn't matter.

“Where you trained on how to refuse a princess even when you two had made eye contact?” Louise almost screamed as the guard immediately dropped to his knees, bowing his head in apology.

“I'm sorry, my princess. It would never happen again” The guard said but Louise just stared at him as if he really created a big offense.

“Off with his head!” She suddenly screamed pointing at the guard, the guards eyes widened as he immediately fell onto his belly grabbing hold of Louise's leg as he begged.

“P-please, spare my life. I have child and wife at home, please!” The guard had tears running down his cheek as he avoided Louise's gaze.

“I was merely joking, geez. You don't have to be this scared” Louise said as she offered her hand out to the man who had been kneeling to beg her.

“R-really?” The man asked and Louise immediately nodded, helping him off the floor with a smile on her lips.
