Of course it had to be Zane. Of course he couldn’t just exist quietly in a room like a normal person. He had to perform, had to pull everyone’s attention like gravity, had to open his mouth and rot everything in it.

The second he stepped on that stage, I knew. I knew something vile was going to come out of his mouth. It was in the smug in his eyes, the way he looked at me like I was already burning and he was just there to fan the flames.
