I wasn’t asleep. I couldn’t sleep. How could either of us sleep so fast after that?

I made her think I was, but every nerve in my body was awake. I could feel her, the heaving of her chest, and the soft tension in the way she snuggled beside me. 

The truth was, I didn’t know what to say or the right way to react to what we had just done. I wasn’t ready to face the questions that would follow.
