Chapter 18

Finally, we arrived at the palace, and my breath caught in my throat as I gazed upon the imposing structure towering majestically before us. It was magnificent, nothing short of breathtaking, with an exclusive blend of ancient grandeur and modern innovation.

Elaborate carvings adorned the walls, seeming they were calling out to me, while the sprawling structure captured the essence of a rich history. The palace dazzled like a treasure trove of jewels, with lights twinkling like stars against the night sky.

Upon entering the vast expanse of the castle, I marveled at the Lavish decorations and archways that created a stunning sense of depth and grandeur. As the breeze swayed the trees surrounding the palace, it felt as though they were welcoming our presence, their gentle rustling a soothing view.

The car pulled into the luxurious parking area, where our polished vehicle came to stop. Stepping out, we were greeted by the Lycan escort, who guided us through the opulent corridors of the palace. Each hallway overflowed with elegance, adorned with exquisite artwork that captured the essence of the empire's rich history.

As we approached the entrance, a gathering of enthusiastic Lycans awaited our arrival, their smiles radiant and welcoming.

“Welcome to the Lycan Empire” announced the striking man, his presence radiating warmth and hospitality. “I am Damon, the Royal Gemma. I hope your journey was pleasant." His magnetic blue eyes met mine for a fleeting moment, leaving a lingering impression.

“Thank you, it was quite delightful” replied Alpha King Jayson, his voice resonating with authority, steady and diplomacy. “We, the werewolves, are honored for the invitation to attend your celebration”

“That's reassuring to hear,” Damon said with an inviting smile, gesturing for us to follow. Please, follow me to your assigned quarters,” His tone was both professional and comforting, putting us at ease.

As we walked deeper into the palace, I felt the intoxicating pull of the empire radiating from the very walls. My gaze swept over the stunning Mosaic arts, exquisite chandeliers, and gentle candlelight that danced like diamonds, casting a soft glow on the intricate marble floors.

The air was filled with the subtle scent of sandalwood and fresh blossoms, enhancing the atmosphere. I was captivated by every detail, feeling a sense of wonder and joy as we explored the palace. I marveled at the stories etched into the walls, the history of the Lycan Empire unfolding before my eyes.

“After freshening up and relaxing a little, please come to the hall down this hallway. Dinner has been prepared” Damon said, assigning rooms to us one by one. As he worked, his gaze lingered on me, though it was respectful, sending shivers down my spine. I noticed Amelia's gaze fixed on him, her eyes sparkling with interest.

Turning to her, I couldn't suppress a teasing grin. “I saw the way you were looking at him, You were practically salivating!” I teased, my voice low and playful.

“It’s not what you think,” Amelia exclaimed, her cheeks flushing. “I just caught a whiff of intoxicating scents of chocolate and sandalwood emanating from him. Ever since we entered the palace, Leila's been acting oddly. And I love the scent too, but it doesn't belong to him. It has to be someone he knows.”

"Oh, really? Then I guess I'm not the only one feeling some kind of connection to this Empire," I shared, my voice barely above a whisper. "Since we stepped onto the land, a mysterious sensation has enveloped me that words can scarcely express. It's even more intense now that we're at the palace."

"Perhaps it's just jet lag," Amelia suggested in a practical tone, her smile reassuring. "Once we freshen up and get some rest, we'll be back to normal in the morning."

"Yes, we really need the rest. The journey was tiring, and I'm starving," I replied, my stomach growling in agreement.

As I began to walk away towards my assigned room, Amelia called out, "Davina, wait! Why was Damon looking at you like that? And the Lycan escort was also giving you a certain look?" Her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

"I wish I knew," I admitted, my heart racing with intrigue and confusion. "Maybe it's because they haven't met a lady as striking as you before," Amelia teased, her laughter echoing through the opulent hall. "And thank goodness Jayden didn't notice them looking at you, or else he'd be jealous," she added with a playful grin. Her words held a hint of truth, given Alpha's possessive nature.

As I entered my room, I was struck by the dark theme design, which suited my taste perfectly. The room's aesthetic reflected my own style, a blend of simplicity and luxury, with a cool and dim ambiance that I adored. I felt a sense of comfort, as if the room had been tailored to my preferences.

I quickly picked out a dress from my suitcase and headed to the washroom to freshen up. Although I would have preferred something simple and loose-fitting, I knew my mother's expectations would dictate my attire for dinner. I thought about the potential consequences of defying her expectations, and a hint of rebellion sparked within me. "Perhaps I'll find a way to subtly assert my own style," I mused, a plan forming in my mind .

After dressing up, I went to Amelia's room, where she was already waiting outside. "Hey, hurry up! Let's go. I'm famished," she said, dragging me to the hall. "Amelia, stop. We can't go in like this. Do you want us to walk in without straightening our outfits?" I asked, laughing. She released my hand and giggled,

"Oh, sorry, my lady. Let's quickly straighten our outfits." After adjusting our attire. We entered the hall, where several guests were already seated. Damon's gaze met mine, his eyes seemed to hold a deep curiosity, and I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking. I exchanged greetings, and I took my seat beside Jayden. Jayden's possessive gaze met mine, and I smiled, trying to ease the atmosphere.

"Can we start now?" Damon, the Royal Gemma, asked, his authoritative tone commanding attention. "Yes, sure," King Jayson replied. "Sorry that the king is not here to entertain you himself. We have a lot of work, and he needs to oversee everything to ensure there are no problems," Gemma Damon explained, his diplomatic words soothing any potential offense. "It's okay, we understand," Alpha King Jayson said.

As we sat down to dinner, Damon couldn't help but steal glances at me and Amelia. His gaze lingered on us, and I felt a sense of intrigue and confusion. "And who might the two ladies who entered last? Sorry if I'm asking and offending you," Damon added, his curiosity evident, and his eyes locked onto mine, sparking a flutter in my chest.

"The one sitting beside the royal beta is my brother's daughter, my niece," King Jayson explained. "And the one sitting beside my son is his chosen mate, who will be mated in one week's time. Why are you asking? Is everything okay?"

Damon's expression turned serious, and he leaned forward. "Yes, everything is good," Damon replied, his voice filled with intrigue. "It's just that the girls make me and my Lycan feel like submitting to them, especially the one sitting beside the prince. She's rare, and I'm not the only one feeling this way. I've asked those who've seen them, and they said they feel the same way."

The king's expression turned puzzled, and he leaned forward, his voice low and serious. "How is that possible? Even a king can't command submission on you without using his full aura. And them, without a title, make you feel this way?" I listened intently, my mind racing with the implications.

I felt a sense of wonder and curiosity about Damon's words. What did he mean by submitting to us? And why did he seem to feel this way about me? I looked at Amelia, and she seemed just as confused as I was. As the soon-to-be Luna Queen I didn't have the power to command such respect, yet Damon's words hinted at something more.

A shiver ran down my spine, the weight of my unknown feeling I had since I entered the Empire. The room fell silent, awaiting the king's response, and I felt the weight of their gazes upon me.

"It's okay, let's forget about it. Maybe it's just our feelings," the Gemma said, diffusing the tension. The room fell silent, and soon, we all departed, the long day taking its toll.

I walked through the hall, I couldn't help but think about Damon's words. What did he mean by submitting to us? And why did he seem to feel this way about me?

Suddenly, someone pulled me into a corner, caging me against the wall. I looked up to see Jayden's intense gaze, his eyes burning with a possessive fire. "What was that about, Davina?" he growled, his voice low and husky.

"You're so beautiful and enchanting that the men were looking at you. The gemma even said you make his Lycan want to submit. No matter how they look at you, you can only be mine." He leaned in, his nose grazing my neck, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I tilted my head aside, trying to create some distance.

"I don't know what you're talking about, and I don't know what they were looking at. Please, can you leave me?" I said, feeling a mix of emotions: discomfort, unease, and a hint of something else. Jayden's apology and sudden change in demeanor only added to the confusion.

"Sorry, Davina. I don't know what's wrong with me. I didn't mean to do that. I just don't like how they were looking at you, and my wolf doesn't either." He took a step back, his eyes still locked on mine, and I saw the struggle to control his emotions. "It's okay, I understand," I said, trying to process what had just happened. With that, Jayden turned and left, leaving me feeling both relieved and unsettled.
