Chapter 19

As Jayden left, I started walking towards my room, lost in thought. But before I could reach the door, Amelia sneaked up behind me, her voice barely above a whisper. "Hey, Davina." I turned to face her, curious about what she wanted.

"What's up?" I asked, my mind still reeling from the encounter with Jayden. Amelia's eyes sparkled with amusement as she said, "The Gemma is funny. How can we make him feel like submitting to us? I think he just fell for our beauty." Her tone was laced with a hint of egoism, and I couldn't help but chuckle at her confidence.

"I don't know, Amelia. Stop deceiving yourself. He's not lying, but maybe our presence has an effect on him." Amelia's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Maybe that's why he's been looking at you since we arrived. Though he looked at me, it wasn't as intense as his gaze at you," she said, her voice filled with intrigue. I shrugged, feeling a flutter in my chest, as I realized the weight of Damon's gaze.

"I think there's more to it than just physical attraction," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Amelia's brow furrowed, and she leaned in closer. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice filled with anticipation. "I don't know, anyways, all I want is for tomorrow to arrive," I said, changing the subject. "Why?" Amelia asked, her brow furrowed in concern.

"Have you forgotten the most interesting part of tomorrow? Grandpa will arrive tomorrow. I've missed that old man," I said, excitement creeping into my voice. "Oh, have really forgotten? But I've missed that old man too," she replied, her eyes lighting up with fond memories.

"Yeah, I've really missed him. Can't wait for tomorrow," I said, walking into my room, feeling a sense of comfort wash over me. That man was one of the reasons I felt happy, along with Amelia, amidst all the expectations and worries of my life.

Grandpa's arrival would bring a sense of normalcy and joy to the chaos that had been surrounding me. I looked forward to his warm smile and wise words, which always seemed to calm my nerves. As I settled into my room, I felt a sense of peace settle in, knowing that tomorrow would bring a much-needed.

"Wake up, wake up! It's time to get up. The sunlight has already come up," I heard Amelia's voice in my ear, accompanied by gentle shaking.

I groggily opened one eye, then the other, gazing at Amelia's excited face. "Amelia, what's wrong? Why are you disturbing me? I'm tired and need to rest, please," I pleaded, my voice husky from sleep.

"No, it's time to wake up! I've already toured the palace this morning and gathered a lot of information," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Yes, I know. When I wake up, I'll listen to whatever you want to say, okay? But please let me sleep for now," I said, still feeling drowsy.

"You have to wake up. I'm not taking no for an answer," Amelia said, bouncing on my bed while singing and dancing. "Fine, I'm up. Are you happy now?" I asked, frustration evident in my voice.

"That's good. Now, get up and freshen up. We're touring the Empire," she said, dragging me out of bed and pushing me toward the bathroom. The bathroom was connected to a walking closet, and I quickly brushed, bathed, and completed my skincare routine. I wore a classy short gown with heels, fine jewelry, and carried a matching bag.

"I'm done. Can we go now? And please, before touring, I need to eat. I'm famished," I said to Amelia. "Don't worry, I've got you covered. As soon as you entered the bathroom, I called the attendants on the landline beside the couch to prepare your meal. So, sit and enjoy your meal, Your Royal Majesty," she said, bowing dramatically. "You're not serious," I said, rolling my eyes in amusement.

"Well, while you were having a beauty sleep, I've already explored and gathered some information, especially about the Lycan king," Amelia said, her eyes sparkling with intrigue.

"Oh, really? So, what's the scoop? Let's hear the news our detectives have gathered," I replied, leaning in with interest.

"You know I wouldn't bring unconfirmed news," Amelia said with a smile. "It's said that the king's leadership has been marked by both compassion and an unyielding strictness. He balances the harshness of a ruler with the devotion of a protector. He's revered by his subjects for prioritizing their needs, but he's feared for his intolerance towards disrespect, betrayal, and disobedience," she said, her voice filled with a mix of admiration and caution.

"It's said that the enigmatic Lycan king is known for his cold-hearted demeanor," Amelia continued, her voice filled with intrigue. "They say he believes that ruling doesn't require the presence of a queen, maintaining that he's sufficient in his solitude. To him, women serve a singular purpose: to alleviate his stress through physical intimacy when the weight of his responsibilities becomes overwhelming," she said, her words painting a vivid picture.

"He doesn't believe in needing a mate or partner; he's convinced he's enough to rule without one. Women are merely a means to release tension, a fleeting escape from his duties," she added, her tone neutral. "Though they say he respects women and wouldn't force them, but rather, they go to him willingly, drawn by his charisma and captivating presence," she said with a hint of curiosity.

"According to what I've heard, he's handsome and enchanting to women. I wish I could see him and compare him to Jayden, as he is the most handsome man I have ever seen," she said, my interest piqued, pondering the king's reputation, I wondered if there was more to him than met the eye. Was he truly as cold-hearted as he seemed, or was there a hidden depth to his character?

As she talked about the king, I couldn't help but wonder what he looked like, my curiosity piqued. "You've gathered so much information this morning," I said, surprised.

"Of course, who wouldn't want to know more about the king?" Amelia replied with a boastful smile. "Okay, what's his name?" I asked, my interest growing. "Whose name?" she asked, feigning ignorance. "The king, of course," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Oh, I didn't ask," she said, shrugging her shoulders. "Really? And you claim to have gathered enough news?" I teased. "Stop it! I just forgot to ask," she said, laughing.

"Alright, let's go. Call the maid to come and clean this room," I said, heading to the washroom to wash my hands. "Okay," she replied. "I'm ready," I said, returning from the washroom, and we left the room, ready to tour the Empire. I couldn't wait for the day to pass and the evening to arrive, knowing my grandpa would be arriving then.

As we walked down the hallway, I admired the intricate designs that adorned the walls. In the daylight, the details were even more breathtaking. "Davina, as I walked through the palace this morning, I caught a whiff of the scent I smelled from Gemma last night," Amelia said, her brow furrowed in concern.

"It was all around, but I couldn't track who it belonged to. The smell is intoxicating, the best I've ever smelled. It's frustrating not knowing where it comes from," she said, her voice filled with determination. "Don't worry, we'll find it. We still have a few days here before we depart," I said, reassuring her with a smile. I had no idea what she was talking about, but I trusted her instincts.

We reached the garage, and one of the men who escorted us the previous night greeted us. "Good morning. Are you the one assigned to show us around the Empire?" Amelia asked, her tone polite. "Yes, ma'am. It will be my pleasure to be your guide," he said, bowing respectfully. As we followed him, I wondered what beautiful view the Empire held, and what lay ahead for us. The guide's knowledge and expertise would surely be invaluable in enjoying the beauty of this grand Empire.

"Okay, let's go," I said, and we entered the car, ready to explore the Empire. I couldn't wait to see its wonders and marvels. As we moved through the city, I felt a mix of emotions - excitement and a hint of unease. Though I still had the feeling that something was going to happen, I felt relaxed and a bit happier, more cheerful here.

Maybe it was because we were far away from the kingdom and my problems. The Empire's vibrant culture and rich history were a welcome distraction from the weight of my responsibilities. I knew that when we returned, I would have to face them again, but for now, I was determined to enjoy this moment. The contrast between the Empire's grandeur and the kingdom's more subdued atmosphere was striking. I wondered what other surprises this day would bring.
