Chapter 23

The morning light crept into my room, casting a warm glow on the walls, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that lingered within me. A strange, unsettling energy stirred in my body. It was as if my senses were on high alert, anticipating something unknown, something that threatened to disrupt the delicate balance of my life.

Selena, too, seemed to sense it, and we both felt a little weak and off-balance. I hoped the day's celebration would lift our spirits and distract us from these feelings, but a part of me wondered if we were just delaying the inevitable.

As I got out of bed and began my morning routine, the feeling only intensified. The water in the shower seemed to wash away my doubts, but the unease lingered, a constant reminder that something was amiss. I tried to shake it off, focusing on the excitement of the celebration, but the sense of foreboding lingered, like a shadow in the corner of my mind.

When Amelia arrived, her usual bubbly personality was tempered by concern. "Hey, Davina, I don't know what's wrong with Leila," she said, her voice laced with worry. "She's been on edge since I woke up." I smiled weakly, trying to reassure her, but the truth was, I was just as uncertain as she was.

The morning sunlight streaming through the windows highlighted the concern etched on Amelia's face. "You're not the only one," I said, trying to reassure her with a gentle smile. "I'm feeling it too. Maybe we're just not used to the palace's unique energy." Amelia's eyes sparkled with a solution. "Okay, let's eat and then head to the spa room here at the palace," she suggested, her voice filled with excitement.

The aroma of freshly prepared breakfast wafted through the air, tantalizing our taste buds and momentarily distracting us from our concerns. As we sat down to eat, the soft clinking of utensils on plates and the gentle hum of conversation created a soothing atmosphere.

Amelia's resourcefulness and quick thinking were traits I admired about her. "How did you know there's a spa room in the palace?" I asked, my curiosity piqued. Amelia's grin mischievously. "Of course, I asked," she said, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "It's in our quarter, and I thought it might come in handy."

After finishing our meal, we began to get ready for the celebration. "I think we should call for home services from the spa house at the resort," I suggested, not wanting to leave the palace today. Amelia nodded in agreement and quickly made the call. Soon, the spa professionals arrived, and we were pampered with luxurious treatments.

The spa room's serene ambiance enveloped us, calming our senses and melting away our worries. The skilled therapists worked their magic, kneading out the knots in our muscles and leaving us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Amelia's eyes sparkled with delight as she let out a contented sigh. "Davina, I love this empire! I don't feel like leaving here, for the past two days we've been here. I've enjoyed myself immensely," she said, her voice filled with genuine enthusiasm.

As we basked in the luxurious treatments, the soothing scent of essential oils wafted through the air, further calming our minds and bodies. The gentle hum of soft music and the warmth of the massage tables created a sense of tranquility, making us feel relaxed.

But Amelia's mood shifted when she mentioned Pricilla. "It would have been even better if that Pricilla bitch wasn't here," she said, her voice laced with venom. I raised an eyebrow, surprised. "What? How can she be here? She didn't come with us." Amelia's expression turned sour. "Yes, that bitch is here and she came with her friend Jessica, the other vampire princess. I just pray she doesn't cross me, or else I'll show her her place and I will not take it easy on her just because of her grandfather Elder James.

The mention of Pricilla brought a spark of tension to the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. I felt a surge of protectiveness, not wanting Pricilla to ruin our day. "Shh, let's not let her ruin our mood," I said, trying to calm Amelia down. But I knew that Pricilla's presence could indeed be a problem, especially given our complicated history.

As the massage therapists finished their work, the evening sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the palace. The soft hum of conversation and the gentle rustle of fabrics filled the air as our designers arrived, carrying an array of exquisite gowns and accessories. They worked their magic, transforming us into stunning beauties. The makeup artists enhanced our features, the hairstylists crafted intricate updos.

My heart skipped a beat as I gazed at my reflection in the mirror. The designer gown hugged my curves perfectly, and the simple jewelry made me feel breathtaking. Amelia's eyes shone with admiration as she gazed at me. "You look beautiful," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. I smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude toward my friend. "You also look stunning," I replied, and we complemented each other perfectly.

The cool breeze from the air conditioning caressed my skin, a welcome relief after the warmth of the day. The scent of fresh flowers wafted through the air, mingling with the sweet fragrance of our perfumes.

As we finished getting dressed, With our transformation complete, we made our way to the sitting room, where the others were waiting for us. The anticipation was palpable, and I could feel the excitement building in my chest. As we stepped outside inside the sitting room.

We greeted the others, I naturally gravitated toward Jayden, standing beside him as his chosen mate. This official celebration was a significant event, and I knew I had to be by his side as we made our way outside. The air was electric with anticipation, and I could feel the excitement building in my veins for the celebration, which I don't know why.
