Chapter 111 Miscarriage

After all, both sides were strangers to each other, not really like a familiar uncle or nephew. So after talking about Wei Shengxian, there was nothing to say. After a short lunch at Wei mansion, Wei Changying excused herself on the pretext that Old Madam Deng was ill and her mother-in-law was not home, so she shouldn't go back late. She declined her uncle and aunt's invitation to stay, said goodbye to them, and left with Shen Cangfeng.

When she returned to the Grand Preceptor's mansion, she saw Mrs. Wan standing under the eaves, seemingly waiting, and asked if she had something to say.

Mrs. Wan reported, "Just now first young madam asked someone to come to tell me that Lvqiao from the second young master's branch had a miscarriage."

“What?" Her face turned gloomy. This was really one thing after another. She had just got married when her husband's grandmother fell ill, and now there was a miscarriage in the family. She got into a bad mood but calmed down a bit and said, "I've never seen anything like this before, Granny, what do you think I should do?"

She hadn't even heard of such a pregnant person from the second branch!

Mrs. Wan smiled bitterly and said, ''The second young madam is not here. The first young madam has asked a doctor to write a prescription for Lvqiao and he suggests for her to sleep and rest. This has nothing to do with our branch, and the first young madam just sent someone over to mention it. Young madam, you just send something over and that should be fine."

A gift was nothing, but Wei Changying wasn't happy that she had only been married into the Shen family for a few days, so how come all of these things had happened within and without? Glancing at Shen Cangfeng, she saw that he was also frowning, and his face was gloomy. She was a bit nervous and became a bit sad. She bit her lip and said, "I will listen to you, Granny. I'm young and I don't know what to give. I still need advice from you, Granny"

After a few words of courtesy, when Wei Changying distractedly picked up the silver cup, Mrs. Wan cast a wink to Shen Cangfeng.

Shen Cangfeng froze, saw Mrs. Wan look at his wife. He seemingly understood something and nodded his head slightly.

After Mrs. Wan left to prepare the present, Shen Cangfeng thought a bit and said to Wei Changying, "Lvqiao shouldn't be a big deal, merely a concubine from my second brother's branch. My second brother doesn't like her very much either. It's just that she's five months into her pregnancy. At three months it was said to be a male child. So when I heard about it, I thought that my brother would be in a bad mood, and then I was worried, but I didn't mean anything else."

Though the three girls from the second branch were all beautiful and Shen Shuyan, the first young daughter, was a prodigy well known in the capital, she still wasn't a boy after all. He had three daughters, but no sons, Shen Lianshi didn't actually talk about it, but how could he not be anxious indeed? And now his concubine was finally pregnant with a male child yet had miscarried.

When she heard him explain that he wasn't angry with her but worried about his second brother, Wei Changying unfurrowed her brow and said, "Do you want to visit your second brother?"

"Never mind. My second brother may not want to see me now either. Probably he wants to be left alone." Shen Cangfeng thought for a moment, but shook his head and said, "Besides, we are still newlyweds, it's not right to leave you alone."

Wei Changying pursed her lips, pretending she didn't hear the words, and then turned her face to Mrs. Huang, "The house at the front is cleared out?"

Seeing that the corners of her mouth curved as she spoke, Mrs. Huang felt amused and said, "I will go and ask." She had accompanied Wei Changying back home earlier today and had just stepped in the door like her. How could she know?

When Mrs. Wan returned from visiting Lvqiao from the second branch, they found out that everything had been done in the front house.

Wei Changying went over and took a look at it, thinking there was nothing wrong with it, and praised Mrs. Wan a bit. When she had just returned to the room, she learned that Shen Cangfeng had gone to the small study to practice writing. She wanted to go over but again hesitated.

Mrs. Huang and Mrs. He passed a look. Mrs. He coughed and said, "It seems that no one remembered to take tea over to the little study? Did the young master say he wanted tea?"

Mrs. Huang held her forehead, and apologized, "I forgot!"

Wei Changying was about to speak, but Mrs. He had already shoved the ebony lacquered plate into her hand, "Young madam, please take it over there. Just now Sister Huang said that she was going to do the cooking herself tonight, so I must go and help. There's no time for me now."

The two grannies weren't available. Weren't there still maidservants? Qin'ge, Yan'ge and the others pursed their lips, not daring to laugh too obviously.

Wei Changying blushed slightly, thought for a moment before accepting this excuse, and whispered, "Alright."

Because of the rain, the window of the small study was slightly open. When Wei Changying arrived at the door with the tea, Qin'ge went up and knocked, then Shen Cangfeng instructed, "Come in."

After the door was opened, she didn't see him standing in front of the desk, but with the back window open, leaning on the low bed under the window, reading a book. By this time the rain had stopped but there was the sound of dripping water in the bamboo forest outside the window. Each long thin bamboo was rain-washed, green and shiny. The man leaning on the bed wore a dark red robe and a golden hair crown. His face was as beautiful as pure white jade. He was inexpressibly handsome.

Seeing his wife bring him tea, Shen Cangfeng hurriedly put down his book and rose to greet her, "Checked everything in the front house?"

"All done." Wei Changying put the tea down on the table and looked at the desk, "Didn't you say you were practicing writing?"

“I wrote a few pages just. When I heard the sound of dripping water in the bamboo forest behind the house, I thought it would also be good to open the window and read." Shen Cangfeng poured himself a cup of tea and said with a smile.

Wei Changying looked around and was secretly relieved that there was no tea, and then felt that she was a little too nervous. Even if there was tea here, couldn't she still come to the little study?

Having been slightly distracted, she suddenly heard Shen Cangfeng say to Qin'ge and Yan'ge, "You go to the small kitchen and fetch a plate of snacks."

Qin'ge and Yan'ge pursed their lips and smiled, saying, "Yes!"

He didn't actually want any snacks but clearly disliked them standing in front of him.

Wei Changying waited until both maidservants were out and then asked, "Why are you here alone without anyone to serve you?"

Shen Cangfeng looked at her and smiled. Wei Changying suddenly blushed, annoyed, "What are you laughing about?"

"I was just wondering when you were going to bring the tea." Seeing that she was annoyed, Shen Cangfeng went around the table, seeking to hold her. Wei Changying dodged away and said, "if I didn't bring it here, I believed you would have to go out yourself!"

Shen Cangfeng took a step forward, got hold of her, reached out his fingers, squeezed her cheek, smiled, and said, "Yesterday you handed me that handkerchief. I thought if today there wasn't any tea here, you would definitely bring some. Indeed, you brought it in with your own hands." He asked affectionately, "Are you not afraid of me after these two days? Huh?"

"..." Wei Changying thought for a bit, and felt that no matter how she answered, she wouldn't be able to avoid his teasing, so she changed the subject and said, "What did my second uncle say to you today?"

"Nothing special." Shen Cangfeng responded casually and turned the topic back, saying, "I heard that you have guts, so why did you avoid me two days ago?"

Wei Changying finally couldn't hold back and reached out to pinch him hard, saying with hatred, "I'm not afraid of you!"

Shen Cangfeng smiled and pointed to his cheek, "Really?"

"Bah! Do I have to kiss you to prove I'm not afraid of you?" Wei Changying figured out his intention, blushed, and pushed him away immediately, saying, "Why should I listen to your words about being afraid or not? If I beat you up, you'll see who's afraid of who!"

"Why are you always thinking about hitting me?" Shen Cangfeng smiled, pressing against her side and saying, "Is it that hitting is kissing and scolding is love? You like your husband this much?"

Wei Changying took a deep breath and flicked her hand, "I don't want to talk to you. You...!" Just as Shen Cangfeng took hold of her wrist, she snapped Shen Cangfeng's hand away with a Bozi spell.

Shen Cangfeng yelped, "You really want a fight?"

"Don't touch me or I'll beat you!" Wei Changying squeaked sweetly, slapping his hand away and shaking her small fist.

"If I can't touch you, then who can I touch?" Shen Cangfeng rubbed his chin and laughed, "Isn't it the right thing for you to let me touch?"

Wei Changying's face turned red, and she spat out, "What right thing is that! If you keep talking nonsense, I'll really beat you up!"

Shen Cangfeng narrowed his eyes, lifted the corner of his robe, tucked it into the jade belt around his waist, and pulled his sleeves up slightly, smiling calmly and beckoning, "Come on. Show me what you have learned that makes you so confident as to think about beating me up all day?"

"What have I learned? What I have learned is how to beat you up!" Wei Changying saw him giving a disdainful look of “bring it on.” She was already a little bit angry, and now it made her even more unhappy, so she stomped her foot, flexed her body, and swung her palm at the side of Shen Cangfeng's neck!

Shen Cangfeng smiled and said, "That was a good palm move. Did you suffer a lot during practice?" Before the words could fall, he pointed his finger at a chakra point and laughed at her, "I've heard that you wanted to learn martial arts because you were worried that you wouldn't be able to talk to me after you got married. It showed that you loved me so much. But since you married me, I think, the rumor is totally untrue. You learned martial arts simply because you want to beat me into a good person?"

Wei Changying knew that because she was a woman, she wasn't as strong as a man, so she didn't let him point at her chakra hard. She moved her arms quickly out of the way, turned her palm into a fist aiming for Shen Cangfeng's face, and hummed, "Glad that you realized it!"

"Ah. Does it mean that I've been deceived?" Shen Cangfeng laughed and said, pretending to be surprised as he dodged out of the way of the punch, and as Wei Changying rushed in front of him, he suddenly reached his hand out and touched her face.

Wei Changying was so angry that she plucked the bracelet from her wrist and hurled it on him, "I'm the one who was deceived! Grandma always said you were going to be a good husband, but you... Who could have known that you are such a person! When I ran into you in the corridor, I thought you were a gentleman!"

Shen Cangfeng was quick to catch the jade bracelet she threw at him but was kicked by her as she took advantage of the opportunity. The kick was neither too hard nor too soft. He didn't get angry but smiled as he put the bracelet in his sleeve, saying, "How could I be impolite outside? But what's the point of playing at being so serious in the bedroom fun?" And he said again, "There is a saying that disobeying an elder's words makes you suffer immediately. You see, even your grandmother says I am a good husband, so why don't you kiss your good husband?"

At this point, Wei Changying caught up with him, clenching her small fist. She punched him in the chest and on the arms. Even though she didn't really hit him hard, Wei Changying had been practicing martial arts for years, so getting hit by her still made him feel slightly sore. He smiled, threatening, "You really don't want to kiss me? If you don't, I'll tell the truth about you shutting me up in the study and beating me up today, so that everyone will know you are a tigress. How will you go out to see people from now on?"
