Chapter 235 Deng Wanwan

Queen Dowager Run and the Queen Run who had heard what had happened came over quickly. They finally persuaded the two princesses to part from each other, thinking that these three sisters from the royal family shouldn't visit Infanta Chengxian together. As Princess Qingxin's knees were injured, the Queen Run advised her to go to the room at the back to apply some medication to them and wait for the imperial doctor to come and take a look at her injuries.

Princess Qingxin had never been treated horribly like this! She cried and howled, keeping saying that she would go back to the palace to ask her father and mother to give Princess Anji a death sentence.

Princess Anji put her hands on her hips, sneering and saying, "Go and tell them. I have never heard of an older sister being executed because she disciplined her younger sister for insulting her elders. If I had been afraid of death, nobody would have shown any respect to Doujin Palace over the years! I tell you, even if father strips of my mother's and my titles and sentences us to death when we return to the palace today, I will still beat you if you insult my mother again!"

Princess Qingxin was so stunned that she couldn't speak. Instead of saying Princess Anji must be punished, she just cried, saying she wanted to go back to the palace.

The apple of the Empress's eye had come to the mansion to congratulate them. If she went back like this, though her sister was the one who had beaten her, she would also get Queen Dowager Run and the Queen Run into trouble. They wouldn't dare to let her go like this. Naturally, they comforted her, holding her and taking her to the Queen Run's courtyard. And they told a servant to fetch the finest wound medication. At that moment, the Queen Run took Wei Changying, who had been summoned to be with her, aside, saying secretly, "Go and apply the medication to Her Royal Highness's knees. Say something nice. Her Royal Highness is really angry with Princess Anji so she might forget about your thing."

Wei Changying now hated Princess Qingxin so much that she didn't want to have anything to do with her, but the Queen Run insisted. Thinking that this aunt of her family was still too distant for her to refuse her kind gesture, she had to swallow her anger, take the ointment, and go to Princess Qingxin.

The princess had already pulled her skirt up then. There were two huge scratches on her tender white knees, red and purple, looking horrible.

The princess put down her sleeves. Seeing Wei Changying, she became angry again, saying, "Why is it her? I don't like her! Get someone else to apply the medication! Aunt Run, you do it!"

Wei Changying really wanted to throw the medication into her face, but the Queen Run was tolerant, smiling and coaxing, "Your Royal Highness, you don't know this. Changying has been learning martial arts since she was a child, so she always gets this kind of wound. Since you have these wounds, it would be better if she applies the medication because she is very good at it. If it were someone else who did it, you might feel painful. If you don't believe what I said, then could I do it?"

Pampered Princess Qingxin was afraid of pain. On hearing that, she said quickly, "Let her do it then."

It had given Wei Changying a headache when she heard the Queen Run say that she could apply the medication without giving her pain. Looking at Princess Qingxin's wounds, she thought there was no way that she wouldn't feel the pain when the medication was being applied. As she was about to speak, she was tugged by the Queen Run secretly... She opened the medication box and sniffed it. And she realized that no matter who applied this medication, as long as the person didn't deliberately press hard on the princess's wounds, the princess wouldn't feel the pain because the medication was mixed with the anesthetic.

This medication was supposed to be used on serious wounds. Probably given that Princess Qingxin was very delicate and it was already a tricky issue for everyone as she had gotten hurt in King Run's mansion, the Queen Run thought that if she felt pain when getting the medication, she might make a huge fuss to the Empress when returning to the palace. So, she took this medication out to deal with the situation.

Wei Changying bent down and applied the medication to the princess's knees. As expected, Princess Qingxin didn't cry out in pain. She spoke with surprise, "It really doesn't hurt. It seems that you are still useful."

Wei Changying said without much enthusiasm, "Your Royal Highness, thank you for the compliment." After returning the medication box to the Queen Run, she was about to leave.

Princess Qingxin had said she didn't want to see her, but now she wouldn't let her go, saying, "Wait! You have learned martial arts. So tell me how I can beat Anji?"

Princess Anji was such a pain in the ass so that no one would want to offend her. Wei Changying was still annoyed with Princess Qingxin, thinking it was truly satisfying that Princess Anji had beaten Princess Qingxin up. She really hoped this tricky princess would be like Princess Linchuan who got beaten by Princess Anji and never got over it for the rest of her life. Having heard what the princess had said, she said without thinking, "My martial art skills are not so good. What I do can only be a show. I cannot help you, so please punish me, Your Royal Highness."

Princess Qingxin who had been rude earlier was now reasonable, sighing, "I knew it. You are all afraid of her like a mouse seeing a cat!"

Then she added, "Since you have performed great service in applying the medication, I won't question you on the issue about Wei Changjuan. You can go now."

She was tricky and then suddenly became reasonable, suggesting that she was just like some other typical spoiled girls of her age. So, she wasn't an evil-minded person. As Wei Changying was a married adult, she shouldn't argue with a little princess who was only ten years old. However, Wei Changying had been spoiled by her grandmother and mother, so she had never been insulted and humiliated like this. At this moment, the more she looked at Princess Qingxin, the more she hated her. Qingxin didn't want to see her and Wei Changying didn't want to be here to keep looking at this young princess who was actually very good-looking. Wei Changying was delighted when the princess allowed her to leave. Wei Changying looked down and said, "Thank you, Your Royal Highness."

She then made small talk with the Queen Run and left the Queen Run's courtyard. Her smile gradually faded away. Seeing there was no one around, she turned her head to Qin'ge who was behind her, saying, "You did a good job just now. What medicine is that blue stuff on the tip of the needle?"

Qin'ge was obedient, saying gently, "It is something that makes people become extremely grumpy. I thought since Princess Qingxin and Princess Anji had already started arguing with each other, and Princess Anji is always protective towards Madam Zhenyi... Princess Qingxin helped Wei Changjuan bully you, so I thought she deserved to be beaten by Princess Anji." She added, "The medicine is from Granny Huang. I didn't know there would be anything like this happening today, so I didn't take everything with me but only this."

Wei Changying exhaled, looked back at the room where Princess Qingxin was resting, and said with a terrifying look, "I see. Unfortunately, my husband is not in the capital now, so I don't know if I can... Anyway, I will bear what happened today in mind!" If it hadn't been for the fear that this would affect her father-in-law's plan for dismissing the crown prince, Wei Changying would have sneaked into her carriage and beaten her hard on her way back to the palace after the wedding banquet today!

Qin'ge knew that Wei Changying, who had been seen as a precious treasure by Old Madam Song and Madam Song since she was young, couldn't stand the princess, let alone her deliberate provocation! She whispered to comfort her, "Young madam, you will still need to present yourself in the palace in the future, but we will be fully prepared next time."

Wei Changying felt that both Su Yuli's wedding and Infanta Chengxian's wedding had made her unhappy.

After meeting the sisters, Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan, Wei Changying felt that her awful feelings eased slightly.

In fact, before Su Yuli's wedding, Wei Shengxian had received an invitation. But unfortunately, the two sisters' father had happened to have a cough at that time. So, Wei Shengxian had taken the daughters to the Yamen in the capital to care for the two sisters' father for a few days. They then had missed the wedding.

This time when they saw each other at King Run's mansion, both sides were surprised.

Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan were surprised but happy. They quickly apologized to the lady they were talking to, and then they came to greet them.

Wei Changying smiled and greeted them. After she asked about how her eldest aunt and eldest uncle were, she suddenly saw the person the sisters had been talking to before slowly walking over. She smiled, saying, "Hello, the third sister of the Wei Family."

"The sister of the Deng Family!" Wei Changying had been curious about how Song Xiyue and her sister knew Deng Wanwan. Deng Wanwan took the initiative to come to speak to her. Probably having realized that Wei Changying was surprised, she smiled, saying, "I came in just now and thought Xiyue and Ruxuan were new here. I was curious. So, I came to talk to them and found out they are actually your cousins."

Wei Changying smiled, saying, "Yes, my eldest uncle and eldest aunt have just returned from Zezhou. My two cousins aren't familiar with the womenfolk in the capital. I was late getting here so I couldn't accompany them. Thankfully you came to talk to them. Otherwise, they would have been lonely."

Deng Wanwan giggled, saying, "As soon as I came in, I noticed that Xiyue and you look alike. I thought she was one of your lineal cousins who had recently come to the capital. However, when I asked her about her surname, she said her surname was Song. So, I thought it was just a coincidence. Only then did I know it is because she is your remote cousin." She had a sweet voice, looking poised but not pretentious. When she smiled, her eyes crinkled at the edges, looking very cute.

Having met the tricky Princess Qingxin, Wei Changying thought everyone she met now was nice. No wonder cousin Song had said the Miss of the Deng Family was nice. She was really a lovable girl.

"But Xiyue is more elegant than me." Wei Changying smiled, saying, "Both of them are more ingenious than me."

Both Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan spoke to her embarrassedly, "Cousin, you are embarrassing us."

After talking for a bit, Wei Changying looked around. She didn't see Mrs. Liu, but Princess Linchuan and Princess Anji were already here. If the princesses were present, there would be a lot of people around. It was very noticeable that there were many people around Princess Linchuan. Almost all the unmarried young ladies gathered around her while there was no one around Princess Anji. She didn't care, eating snacks unhurriedly and using a finger to play with a parrot which was brought together with a bird stand to her.

If Princess Linchuan was there, Min Yinuo would be there as well. Wei Changying took a glance and saw Wei Changjuan next to Min Yinuo. She frowned slightly. But having thought about it, she said to Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan, "That is your second uncle's daughter, the seventh sister, Changjuan. Have you met her?"

Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan shook their heads, saying, "We wanted to visit the second uncle and second aunt. We tried several times but there was always something that happened to stop us. The second uncle was usually busy, so our mother worried that if the second aunt was the only one there, there would be too much for her to do to welcome us. So..."

Madam Duanmu wasn't a just-married woman, so how could she have trouble entertaining her sister-in-law and her two nieces? Wei Changying had realized that Wei Shengxian didn't get along well with her second aunt. So, if Wei Shengyi was not there, Wei Shengxian wouldn't want to go there. Wei Shengyi had to work, so he didn't have much spare time. During the little spare time he had, Wei Shengxian and her daughters might not be free. Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan's father was an official in the capital. So, when it was his day off, the family might want to spend the time together. Therefore, they didn't have the time to pay a visit to the mansion of the Wei Family.

So, as the days went by, the two families hadn't met properly up until now.

Wei Changying pretended that she hadn't realized that, saying, "So then I should introduce you to each other today."

She then led them and Deng Wanwan to go over together. She patted Wei Changjuan's shoulder from behind. Perhaps Wei Changjuan hadn't seen her coming, so she turned her head with a smile. The moment she saw it was Wei Changying, her smile vanished instantly. Wei Changjuan wanted to push her away subconsciously. However, she just raised her hand as she realized, forcing a smile and saying, "My third sister, you are here, too. I just heard things about Princess Qingxin. That is really a complete misunderstanding. I'm worried about you..."

When Song Xiyue and the other two heard this, they looked at Wei Changying questioningly. Wei Changying smiled and interrupted her, saying, "Let's leave that trivial matter aside and talk about it later. Princess Qingxin has already said it's not a problem. Come and meet these two cousins. They are our eldest aunt's daughters."

Wei Changjuan had to greet the sisters first. When she saw Deng Wanwan, she also greeted her, "Wanwan, you're here, too."

"My brother asked me to give a gift to young master Gu on his behalf before he left for Western Liang." Deng Wanwan nodded, saying, "But I was in the palace with my aunt these last days. Her maidservant, Granny Yao, asked me to come here with her, so I came."

"There aren't many womenfolk in the Gu Family. Apart from Rouzhang, there aren't many people you can talk to." Wei Changjuan said casually, "Especially since Their Royal Highnesses are all here today, there are even fewer people there."

Deng Wanwan smiled and said, "Yes! If I didn’t come here, I wouldn't meet Xiyue and Ruxuan today! I didn't know that these two sisters are cousins of Changying and you."

Not until having heard her words, did Wei Changjuan speak to Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan, "Has my third sister already introduced me to you? You didn't come to the first cousin Su's wedding. So after I returned, my mother asked about you and the eldest aunt."

Although Song Xiyue and Song Ruxuan were gentle, they did know what was happening. Wei Changjuan had spoken to Deng Wanwan first. Wei Changjuan didn’t begin to speak to them until Deng Wanwan had mentioned them. She obviously saw the sisters as inferior to Deng Wanwan, being a little unwilling to even talk to them. Song Xiyue still put a gentle smile on her face and spoke in a polite but indifferent tone, "We were talking with Wanwan before Changying came over. How is the second aunt? My mother misses her a lot."
