Chapter 295 Meet Wei Xinyong Again

Two days later, Wei Xinyong entered the capital. Right at that time, Wei Changying's return to her family was not packed up, nor did Lu Cheng set off.

Originally, Wei Xinyong had his own ancestral house in the capital. However, currently, he was adopted by Ruiyu Hall. Deserted for years, his old house was no longer suitable for living. So he decided to visit Wei Shengyi first.

Hearing about the news, Wei Changying asked Lu Cheng to come to her and asked, "Is sixth uncle going to live in second uncle's home for a while?"

Lu Cheng shook his head and said, "Perhaps not. Two young madams are in charge of the backyard due to the death of the second madam. Sixth Old Master (Wei Xinyong) is too young to meet them in spite of several generation gaps between them. Also, the second and third young masters have to observe mourning for the second madam. Therefore, it is not the right time for Six Old Master to live with them."

Wei Changying continued, "Did grandma ever say about the settlement after he reached the capital?"

"No." Lu Cheng replied.

Thinking about that for a while, Wei Changying said to Mrs. He, "Send someone to second uncle's house with some gifts and ask sixth uncle what he thought."

Mrs. He told it to a servant. In the afternoon, the servant went back, saying, "Sixth Old Master said Second Madam had invited him to Su's House for a temporary stay."

After Wei Xinyong arrived, he was accommodated in the front yard of Su's House. After Wei Xinyong was adopted, he became Wei Zhengyin’s cousin. There was a great age gap between them. The point was that Wei Zhengyin lived with her husband Su Xiuwei's family. So if Wei Xinyong was settled in the front yard, there would be less gossip about him.

Hearing this news, Wei Changying knew that her aunt may have received a letter from her grandma, and asked Mrs. Huang to go to the main room, saying, "Go to tell Mother. My sixth uncle, whom I have not met, arrived at the capital and lived in my aunt's home. I'd like to visit him in the flesh someday."

Coming back from the main room, Mrs. Huang said to Wei Changying, "Madam said it's up to you, young madam." After several seconds, Mrs. Huang added, "When I came to the main room, Madam was playing with little young master. She said that without even looking up a bit."

"Okay, I will visit him tomorrow." Wei Changying replied. Was it the benefit of getting mother-in-law to raise her son? Without knowing to laugh or cry, Wei Changying looked over the things at hand and said, "Granny, make decisions on some of them tomorrow. I will do what you felt puzzled after coming back."

On the next day, Wei Changying told Madam Su while saying good morning. Madam Su agreed, and Wei Changying hurried to Su's House by carriage.

After greeting Old Madam Deng and saying that she came here to visit her uncle, Wei Changying was brought to the third branch by Old Madam.

Wei Zhengyin was waiting for her niece. After a few greetings between them, Wei Changying asked her aunt about Wei Xinyong, "Is sixth uncle here right in the room?"

Wei Zhengyin replied with a smile, "When I went to tell your grandma that I would invite Wei Xinyong to come over yesterday, your grandpa heard about that and treated him for dinner. During dinner time, he ingratiated himself with your grandpa and they all drank too much. I'm afraid he hasn't even got up now. Your grandpa asked us not to disturb him before going out."

Wei Xinyong's coax stunt didn't surprise Wei Changying at all. Not to mention his talents, judging from his appearance and bearing, he seemed to be the son of high officials or noble lords. Even people in the family of high-ranking officials thought highly of him. At the moment, after hearing Wei Xinyong could not meet her, she whispered, "What does my grandma mean? What's the news?"

Wei Zhengyin took her hand, sat together on the soft bed by the window, and whispered, "Both the letter and the sender did not say the specifics, but what else except for your unambitious second uncle?"

"I think so, but I don't know what second uncle wants to do?" Wei Changying compressed her lips and whispered, "Wei Xinyong is not the person you can rely on."

Wei Zhengyin patted on the back of her hand and comforted her, "Mother would not upset you if she had other choices."

Wei Changying replied with a smile, "It is unworthy of being mentioned. Speaking of which, he was once threatened by me. Am I supposed to bear a grudge against him? I just think that he is so thoughtful and meticulous and he comes from our clan. If we favor him too much, maybe one day he will hurt us…"

Wei Zhengyin said with a gentle smile, "Your grandma won't give him the chance. So smart as he might be, don't you think he is too young? Your grandma has encountered so many ups and downs in her life. Will she be coaxed by him?"

Wei Changying sipped her mouth and knew that she could not find out more from her aunt and switched the topic to Su Yuwu, "The last time I sent my uncle to the Ji Family’s mansion for medical treatment, accompanied by some elder cousins. We visited Su Yuwu. Now he is able to walk around and it's said that he will return in around two days? The problem is that he is pale around the gills due to the injury. I have a piece of good old ginseng, which has become a human shape, but I didn't take it with me today. I will send someone to bring it here to reinforce the vital energy of Su Yuwu in one or two days."

Wei Zhengyin sent people to see her son every day. Therefore, she knew Su Yuwu better and clearer than Wei Changying did, saying that, "How can we grab the loved staff from you? I also have a piece of human-shaped ginseng. Just keep it for your parents-in-law. The ginseng is so precious that money even doesn't count."

As for Su Yuwu, Wei Zhengyin then asked about Shen Cangfeng, "How's he going recently? How's the battle in Western Liang going?"

Wei Changying was not sure as well, saying, "I received letters and gifts on my birthday, but there was no letter to me recently. As for letters to my father-in-law, I'm not that sure, either. It’s improper for me to ask about it."

Wei Zhengyin said with a sigh, "I heard that Shuguang was brought to your mother-in-law. You don't have to be upset as she will take good care of him. Besides, now you are in charge of the house, so you are destined to be busy. If Shuguang is ignored due to your busy staff, it would be too late for you to regret it. Wealth and Glory, deemed as good, is nothing compared to your son. It really struck me that Su Yuwu got into the accident. The thing that really matters is that our children are safe and sound. As for the Family Head…When I heard that he had an accident, I just wanted to kill myself. Had I known the Eastern Hu is that dangerous, I would not have let him go whatever the rank is, not to mention the position of the Family Head."

Wei Changying was stupefied by what Wei Zhengyin said, saying that, "After the recovery, will Su Yuwu…?"

Wei Zhengyin said in a firm voice, "I won't definitely let him go to Eastern Hu again. The incident almost scared me to death. I will never want to suffer from that again. I will try to persuade relevant parties not to engage him in regardless of the scolds or opposite voices from your grandpa and uncle."

"Fortunately, your first elder cousin and sister-in-law went to take office, and now your third sister-in-law is in charge of the home. Madam Qian cannot rest assured about the second branch. So she is looking for daughters of eminent families to be Su Yuliang's wife. I am also looking for a girl. It really depends on which lady Madam Qian will choose. Su Yuliang hasn't been to the border. As for the position, it is okay if Yuwu ended up losing it. I will never ever let him go to Eastern Hu again." Wei Zhengyin added.

Her aunt's words reminded Wei Changying of the fact that Su Yuwu behaved quite differently. It didn’t seem that he was so scared that he didn’t want to go to Eastern Hu again. Northern tribes killed Su Yuwu’s comrades, so he was more willing to go to Eastern Hu after recovering and vowed to take revenge, an act of serving the country.

No sooner had she spoken out what she thought than she thought of Su Yuwu's injury and Wei Zhengyin's worry that she almost lost her son. Perhaps they two were too excited to make a decision. It was likely that they would change their mind in several days.

So Wei Changying did not mention it but switched to another topic, "No outsiders here. I have a truth to tell. Aunt Qian treated Sister Shen so badly that almost no one is willing to marry off their daughters."

Wei Zhengyin replied, "That surely is. Whenever she talked about the marriage, those madams and old madams all suddenly turned the other way around, saying that their daughters or granddaughters were not qualified. But they always praised their daughters and granddaughters. What matters to me most is that Yuwu's marriage will be delayed if Su Yuliang remained single."

"Can't get a wife? How come? At least, Su Yuliang was born in an upper class family. It is just a little bit hard to have a well-matched marriage." Wei Changying smiled and said.

They chatted until noon, and then Wei Zhengyin asked the servants to serve the dishes.

During lunch time, the servant came and said, "Sixth Old Master Wei woke up, and he is now washing up. He knew exactly that it's too late, so he's gonna make an apology to you. Hearing that Family Head and our Old Master went to work and young madam Wei had been waiting for him for several hours, he said he would be here after lunch."

Wei Zhengyin nodded, "Go and tell him to take his time to wash up and have lunch. He doesn't need to worry about Changying. I will treat Changying."

Contrary to what she said, Wei Zhengyin and her niece put down the chopsticks and cleaned their teeth with tea. All outsiders were dismissed. Only some henchmen accompanied them.

In the afternoon, Wei Xinyong was brought in. Wei Changying addressed him as sixth uncle and looked him up and down. He had been a bit thinner since they last met in Fengzhou. Judging from the appearance, he looked paler but handsome while his bearing and temperament were unique. He was also talented. In addition, nurtured and recommended by Ruiyu Hall, no wonder he was so well-known.

After the salute, Wei Zhengyin invited Wei Xinyong to take a seat. Followed by a few greetings, she said to Wei Xinyong, "It really surprised me. To be honest, I never heard of you before, sixth younger brother. If it hadn't been for the sibling relationship between us, I would never know the outstanding sixth younger brother belongs to our Wei clan."

Wei Xinyong said with a smile, "It's kind of overpraise." Followed by some polite formula, Wei Xinyong turned to Wei Changying, "Sorry to have kept you waiting."

Wei Changying replied with a thin smile, "Sixth uncle came from afar, but I didn’t welcome you in person. It’s my impoliteness. I'm supposed to wait for you here." She fluttered her long eyelashes.

Sensing that she was so polite, Wei Xinyong was a bit shocked and then said, "Being a parent really makes one mature. I thought previously that I would be greeted with a long sword or knife."

Wei Zhengyin didn't know they had met before and looked at her niece in astonishment. Wei Changying got a bit nervous and then said, "Who has not yet been young and ignorant yet? Sixth uncle is more generous than the ordinary. It's been a long time since we last met, and do you still find it not easy to forgive your niece?"

"You really were innocent then." Wei Xinyong smiled. He moved on to another topic, "But it is you who fostered Huo Zhaoyu's marriage, right? There was too much innocence."

For that, Wei Changying was remorseful. She was intended to lose her temper. Suddenly she thought of something and turned to consult Wei Xinyong, "How did you know about it?" It surely brought shame on herself, but she didn't even tell anything to people in Fengzhou.

Seeing that her niece looking at her, Wei Zhengyin shook her head,"We didn't even say something specific yesterday when we met."

But soon Wei Zhengyin came to realize, "I did do in the letter to your grandma."

Seeing that they already knew how the secret was divulged, Wei Xinyong didn't elaborate on it.

Wei Xinyong stopped talking for a while. Feeling quite awkward, Wei Changying continued, "Any bad consequences were caused due to the incident?"

Hearing this, Wei Zhengyin looked nervously and surprisingly towards Wei Xinyong.
