Chapter 2

BLAIR'S POV

I stayed in the hospital for the next three hours, waiting to be discharged.

I spent the three hours plotting. I was immersed in my thoughts when the door opened and Ivan rushed in.

"Oh my angel!, I was so scared when I was told you fainted. Thank goodness you are awake." He gushed, trying to hold me.

White hot rage filled me at his sight. My skin prickled with disgust, and I shoved the desire to strangle him. A quick death would be mercy, and I did not intend to be merciful to them. I would become their worst nightmare and make them rue the day they met me.

I would be their penance.

“Babe, are you okay?” He frowned. He was a good actor because I could hear traces of hurt in his words. I never thought I was capable of a deep hatred like this. I lived my previous life being good.

I was good, I was really good. I embodied goodness. I was kind, I listened to him, I was a good friend, a perfect wife, I never nagged, I made dinner at home. I followed him to every event, and I played the part of a dutiful wife. I loved him, I truly did, and that made my hatred burn hotter.

Being good had led to my death. It was time to switch things up.

“I’m tired, that’s all,” I said, looking away from him.

“You are behaving strangely, but I understand. Mira and I have perfected our engagement party. You’ll love it.” He smiled, and I ran my gaze over his features, wondering how I ever loved him.

He was very basic, with washed-up features; there was nothing unique about him. I had held him in high esteem, falling over him like he was the most handsome man ever, when he was this bland. I had been seeing through Rose colored glasses, and that perception had been shattered.

“Were you here yesterday? Or the day before?” I asked, playing dumb.

He hesitated, then smiled, “I was overseas, on business. I came as soon as I could.”

I tilted my head in confusion. “You said you were with Mira, though?”

He fell over his words like a child. “Yes, the thing is - Mira had been busy with the planning, and all we did was just talk through it.”

I smiled to myself.

“Well, good job. Now, I need to rest before I get discharged soon. So, leave, and I’ll see you in a few hours.” I dismissed him, turning away from him.

He was shocked and confused, but I did not care, I was not going to be kind to him when he practically killed me, killed my baby. Grief filled me, but I pushed it away. I had been trying not to think about the baby.

“Alright.” He replied, bent down to kiss me, but I pushed him away lightly. He lingered, about to say something, but I pretended to be asleep, so thankfully, he left.

I knew I had been given a second chance at life, and I was grateful for that, but I could not ignore the grief that rose in my chest. It was all encompassing. I felt ruined and bruised. The betrayal and loss were so much for me. I could not hold the tears back, I did not even try to, I just wrapped my hand around myself and cried.

I indulged in my tears for ten minutes, then wiped them clean, knowing revenge was the answer.

Soon, I was discharged and went home, well, the home I shared with Ivan. I frowned when one of the house staff handed me a box. There was no return address on it.

“Who sent this?” I asked her, confused and a bit unnerved. I was paranoid, understandably so.

“I have no idea, ma’am. It was outside the door, with your name on it. The security team already went through it, so I don’t think anything unsafe is there.”

“Alright.” I waved her off and walked to my room, where I opened the box and found a beautiful black dress. I was stunned. The dress was very beautiful, dripping in luxury.

Ivan had gotten me a red dress to wear, but seeing this dress filled me with glee and mischief. It could be my Revenge dress. I was no Princess Diana, but this would do.

I lifted the dress to get a better look and found a note and a flash drive. My heart raced at the sight. The note was simple - Wear this, so I can recognize you.

On the flash drive, there was another note - Watch me.

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back. I sat on my bed, got my Laptop and inserted the Flash drive.

__

I was accompanied to the Party by my parents and brother. I dazzled in the black dress, and all eyes were on me as I stepped out of the car.

“You look so beautiful, babe. I thought your dress was red, though.” She frowned.

I stepped away from her hold, the flash drive content still playing in my mind. I knew she was shocked by my attitude, but this was nothing.

I walked into the hall. It was beautifully executed, and it would be their burial ground. I looked around, trying to find the stranger who had sent the dress and flash drive to me.

“Who are you? Where are you?” I murmured to myself.

I knew one of the highlights of the event was a video of us being played. I found my way to the technical unit and handed the person in charge a drive of my own.

“Play this instead. Thank you.” I smiled at him.

He was confused, obviously, but nodded.

I made my way back into the Hall and felt like I was being watched.

He looked confused, but I smiled and told him not to check it until it was time to play the video.

I walked out of the media room, smiling at myself and grateful to whoever sent that parcel to me.

I was about to enter the hall again, but I suddenly felt like I was being watched, and there was goosebumps on my body. Someone was watching me, the person was watching me.

I looked around, trying to identify him, but what I saw was Ivan and Mira sneaking into one of the rooms.

Bile rose in my throat, and I followed them, seething.
